Hi there!

Most likely if the scab is getting worse it's infected or the dog has been irritating it by scratching it. Depending on where the scab is on your dog's head, you can actually try putting anti-biotic ointment on it and a bandaid. This way the anti-biotic ointment will help with the possible infection and the bandaid will cover it and protect it against getting irriated from scratching. If this doesn't clear it up in a few days, I would suggest taking your pooch to the vet to get prescribed anti-biotics and a professional opinion about what to do. Hope this helps!! :)

I don't understand the question, a scab is just something covering a wound, it can't really get bigger unless it were to be taken off and a larger one come back in it's place. Unless the wound is getting bigger.

If this is the case the dog is probably scratching at it, you could try to get an E-collar which are those lamp shade looking things you see @ the pet store, make sure it is large enough to go at least 1 inch past his nose though otherwise it won't help much.

Whats the scab from? Wound? Or from scratching at ears? If its the ears,,you need to get a cleaning solution from the vet.Have them show you how to clean the ears by picking up on the ear as to not hurt the eardrum with the swab.If the wax is dark brown with a foul odor,,then you will need medicated ear drops from the vet. Some dogs have ear problems because the ear canal on some are narrow & do not get enough airflow in them so they get icky. For the scab on head,,they sell relief spray but do not use on face or near eyes!! They sell the wipes at pet stores ,,called relief wipes.Id see your vet tho to be sure of what is going on.It wont be that expensive.

It's kind of hard to give an answer without any additional information.......if the scab wasn't caused by a wound, whether it's itchy or not, it could be a fungus, or demodectic mange. Only way to know for sure is to have the vet do a skin scraping.
Never put any kind of dressing/bandage over a wound/scab.

Any time a scab get worse instead of better, you should take ur pup to the vet. Though, a agree with the person who said that we need more info in order to give you a better answer.

Put neosporin on the scab and wrap his head lightly with a old dishcloth. Then go to the vet. Don't let the dog try to scratch their head, it will make it worse.

you want to make sure the scab doesnt get infected. kepp the area clean and you can buy some antibacterial ointment at a pet store. if it looks like it may be infected I suggest calling a vet. Usually vets will give you advice over the phone or suggest that you bring you pet in for a check. Good luck with your pooch!

you should probably take the dog to the vet since the scab is getting worse. This could be really serious...don't hesitate.

you didn't specify what type of scab it is? sometimes dogs scratch themselves so hard that they cut into the skin and then they'll scratch there again before its healed and it gets worse and you have to find a way to stop them from scratching till they heal...but because you didn't specify what type of scab I can't be sure if this is the case...best answer I can give you with such little info is take it to the vet

I had a Black Lab with the same problem on his snout. I had a vet look at it and take tests. Turned out that it was a form of cancer, but not a catastrophic one. I opted to have it surgically removed because even though it was not life threatening, it would never heal.

My advise is to have a Vet look at it, and go from there.
