They dont hum it is just there wings like a cricket. A humming bird flies so fast that the wings make it sound like there humming.The cricket rubs its wings together to make it sound like it is singing.

I'm not sure but as i remember my teacher saying, they aren't really humming, its their wings and because they flutter them at a high rate, it sounds like they are humming.
