Why don't we just get rid of these stupid things, they are ruining peoples lives. I don't want to hear there good in an emergency, 1% of people use them for this, most is just gossip talk and wasting time. I miss the old days, Im considering throwing mine in the trash soon. Anyone agree with me?
If you don't agree, how come we all got along fine without them in the past. No one tracking you down, no stupid drama with the girls, it's so passe' and old news, I will go back to the old school corded phone, and call people back when "I" am good and ready.

Bless all us fools

The only thing I hate about cell phones is when you are in a certain area you can't get anyone but cell phones are ok. I mean I'm not crazy and I won't use them to gossip or use them like land lines I use them for emergences only. You'd be crazy to throw yours away it would be like wasting money but if you want then that's your business. This is the 21st century. Things have changed since then and cell phones do come in handy like when someone's at the grocery store and their family memebers need something and forgot to tell them when they left the family memeber could call that person and tell them instead of waiting until they get home and say "Oh I forgot to have you pick this and this up." That would get annoying that's why cell phones are useful.

I have one and I like it to have on me just in case.

The only time I hate cell phones is when people are out to lunch/dinner somewhere and they have the ringer turned on on them and it goes off and they pick up and suddenly they sound like someone that's hearing impaired, YELLING into the cell phone to the person that called them, letting the whole world know what they're talking about, which in return disturbs my lunch/dinner!

I also can't stand when someone is yapping on a cell while driving their car, swerving or poking along oblivious to the fact that I'm behind them and they should be driving at least another 10 miles an hour faster than they are! I mean really people! Hang the heck up and drive OR pull over to the side of the road or in a parking lot and talk on it!

Wow - a little uptight are we?

You know, you can always turn your cell phone off, if you don't want people to call you on it!? I use my cell phone everyday for business. I figure, without it, I would probably cost my company upwards of $10,000 per day. However, when I leave the office at the end of the day, my cell phone goes off. I keep with me in case I need it for an emergency, but I don't turn the ringer on.

Before we consider getting rid of cell phones, we should consider getting rid of rude, ignorant people who don't know when it is appropriate to end their call!! People who are trying to talk on their phones while they carry on a conversation with someone behind the counter at the local 7-11 should be shot!!! Or people who sit a stop light for 10 minutes because their brains can't process the fact that the light turned green because they are engrossed in their conversation!!

My point?? Cell phones aren't stupid, people who can't hang them up are!!!!

I personally think cell phones are a very good thing to have. I agree that they are used all too frequently to gossip on, but even if a very small precent uses them for emergencies, those people were able to use them, and help themselves, or others around them who were in need of immediate help.

As for your question about everyone getting along without them in the past, that was the past. The world today is a very different world then it was in the past. Crime rates are higher, people aren't as safe, and in my opinion the world is just not as kind and safe as it was, making cell phones almost a neccessity.

I think it is almost like a love/hate relationship. They are very handy in emergencies, but they can also be bad in other more common situations. I think it is a personal decision whether or not to own one, and who you use it.

I for one am tired of hearing half of a conversation no matter where I go.

I wish people were courteous enough to care that they are putting everyones life at risk, and not just their own, while they are driving and talking.

I think the cell phone has made us an impatient society. People rarely accept voice mail anymore, they ask, "Where were you when I called?"

It is difficult to strike up a conversation with anyone in public because nearly everyone has a phone to their head and this has made society distant and isolated.

These are just my opinions though and they are not going anywhere so I guess I should just get used to it.

I really think that cell phones now a days are needed for everyday life! However, I think that teens get overwelmed with them, they don't know when to STOP talking and at times they can get you into trouble.
I for once can agree that Teens should only have them to call dad/mom on an EMERGENCY level, but just to gossip and stuff is just plain stupid!

If you're almost never home because you work 8+ hours a day and go to night school 5 nights a week, and have a wife and 2-year-old son at home, then you need a d*mn cellphone. It's not a complete waste, it is good for emergencies and, if it's not for you, then you obviously don't use the phone enough to care. Next stupid question.

Yes--- I was beginning to think I was the only one... the novelty has finally worn off..and I am sick of being pestered 24/7 - mine is in the glove compartment in the car.. for emergencies ... if anyone calls me at home or work ..the answering machine will let me know - later.. maybe its because I grew up in the technologyless 70's & 80's I can live without it - but my kids have them and they all have mad ring tones....aaaarghhh !
