i am looking for a birth control pill that is safe to use but makes you put on weight on your body. My friend wants to use birth control pills and also wants to put on some weight because she is very thin. Could she use yasmin?

Depo-Provera. Its a shot you get once every 3 months.
I weighed 92 pounds before I started taking it and got up to 118 pounds.

Birth control pills are not guranteed to make you gain weight. Everyone's bodies are different and will react differently, weight gain is a common side effect and is never severe enough to pile on the pounds. If you absolutely sit and do nothing you may gain some weight. but nothing instant. Depending on the levels of hormones in the pill will determine the effects on her body. Some mild ones have little to no side effects and stronger ones may have more side effects. Be aware of other side effects, but most of them are good such as a better period and clear skin. One thing I have noticed from being on the pill is not so much weight gain, but more water retention. Yasmin may work, but talk to the doctor about the right pill for you, there a lot out there. I like Loestrin and Levlen, but depends on your needs.

I used ortho tri. and put on 2 pounds. I also had a hard time with it. Then I was switched to yasmin and I gained 20 pounds. I am only 5'2 nad before I weighed 115 pounds. After gaining that much I had to exercise to loose it. I have lost 16 pounds since then. She should probably use yasmin, BUT her doctor should tell her the right pill for her body type, and it might take her several pills to find the one she likes.

I wouldn't rely on birth control pills to gain weight. Not everybody reacts the same way to them. In fact, I have known of people who have lost weight while on the Pill(due to nausea and/or the person's body chemistry). Are you using a lot of low- or nonfat versions of foods(such as skim milk)? You may actually want to switch to higher-fat versions for a while, and perhaps up your protein intake. It is possible to go too far in terms of watching what you eat.

Depoprovera shot. I used to weigh 105lbs @5'3. I got on the shot and by the 3rd shot I put on 15lbs I continued to gain weight until I got off it at which pint I needed to excercise to maintain the weight I gained and not gain anymore
