I have a 2 year old and she is minded at a daycare while I'm a work. However, I would like to have a roster of teenage girls who would be willing to mind her on the odd evening when we go out. Where is the best place to find responsible babysitters. We live in North London

This is a perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbours. Ask them if there are any they use who they would recommend.
Also ask other parents who use your daycare centre.

There are many agencies that can refer you to very reliable sitters some Au- pair and nannying services do have a baby sitting service if you are really stuck call or local authority or parent line may be able to point you in the right direction.
Please remember you are trusting these people in your home but most of all you are trusting them with your child.

It may take some time but if you put adverts in the paper. im a teen living in north london aswel however i recon it would be a better idea if you tried to find someone you have known for a little while at least because to be honest people my age in north london arent so trustworthy.

You could call the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and leave your phone number with the person who answers. Ask for young baptized sisters who are in good standing in the congregation, possibly a pioneer (full time minister) because these would have a good reputation in the community for honesty among other things. I would also try any local schools or colleges or find out if there are any trainee nursery nurses at local nurseries too. Also try looking at noticeboards in community halls, library and doctors surgeries. I also have a babysitting system with a friend of mine. We don't pay each other in money but in "time" She has mine for 2 hours then I owe her two hours. It works quite well.
