I sometimes wonder why do people make one sometimes with their religion as if it was a part of them for ever ...for example, I am Muslim , or I am Christian, I am buddhist, ..I was wondering if someone can change religion than why not I practice Islam, I practice christianity , I practice buddhism ... and do you think what ever the culture, religion is important in life , as long people are taught that there is a god who exists ?

It's because religion is an important identifier. Religion is one of the person's many roles. It's the same sort of thing as identifying with one's job. For example, saying I'm a baker rather than I work at a bakery.

Religious beliefs are one of those things that is deeply ingrained in us and is often unchangeable, like race and political views. I wouldn't say I practice being a democrat (although with these politicians I'm not "practicing" being on either side!) Of course, I see your point that it does make sense to say it that way. I think religion is important to people who find it important. I couldn't really careless if there are religions or not, because they don't make a difference in my life. And if we didn't have religion, who would teach the children that God does exist? Certainly not all parents can be expected to believe in God. And forget about incorporating that idea in public schools.

It's like saying I practise football instead of I am a football player.

Your way implies dilletant. An appretice. A student.

Your way is I read the Bible and learn about Jesus and enjoy him and love him. The other way is I embrace the way of Jesus and live as much as I can by his ways.

OK. I once was at a party and a guy told me why he became a medical doctor. Because he was good at memorizing things.

I'd never go to him as a doctor. I'd much rather go to someone who became a doctor because they were driven to pratise medicine and do their best to improve lives.

He made it sound like being a doctor was phoning it in.

I can practice a lot of things.

I AM one of Jehovah's Witnesses. That is as much or more a part of who and what I am than anything else.

Yes, it is important to teach that God exists, but:
Who is that God?
What does he require of his followers?
How can we meet these requirements?

Jesus said that God is looking for people who worship him in spirit and in TRUTH. (John 4:23, 24) We must know about him and his Son in order to be able to do so. - John 17:3
