I think they're good dogs. I know my min pin is very loyal to me and she's clingy; however they require a lot of attention, time, and energy. They are not lap dogs, if you treat them like lap dogs they will eventually turn out to "rule the house" so to say. They have A LOT of energy and are rarely calm down. She is definately a barker, she barks @ people who come in my apartment, my boyfriend's house, as well as people who simply walk by on the street. I feel bad for the pizza man because she squeezed by me and barked @ him until she got to the stairs. She acts like she's a large dog in a small dogs body and likes to take on challanges that are over her head.

She also is a very curious dog and very smart dog. I swear she finds the most random things in my apartment that she tries to chrew on before I confsicate it (things that no one else will find).

She interacts with 2 other dogs on the regular basis and she is just fine with them. It took her awhile and them awhile for them to get adjusted. She likes to play with them and sleeps on them.

You have to be very patient when house training them. I'm still house training my dog (2 months and counting). But she's progressing very fast in the training course we are enrolled in (sit, stay, take it, leave it, come)

As for me she is very loyal to me. She listens to me more than anyone else she interacts with on the daily basis, and for awhile she barked @ everyone (even my boyfriend) and not me. She follows me around the house and she likes to sleep on me (and my boyfriend). I am very clingy to her and get jealous when other peple show signs of attention to her (but I have to allow that). Overall I am very glad I adopted a min pin and I only hope that she feels the same w/ me.

As for children I'm not too sure, but my grandmother had a min pin when we were kids and we always wanted to play (which wasn't a problem) with her and pick her up and she didn't like it. My grandmother would say "your worrying her." However the min pin I have now isn't really a lap dog but she doesn't mind being picked up or played with. Good Luck.

This site is really accurate about the personalities of the min pin.

min pin can be loyal, great dogs...but they take a lot of attention and patience (especially in the puppy stages). I had a friend get a min pin and then had to have it adopted because she couldn't get it potty trained, it ate/chewed everything in sight, yapped to the point where the neighbors complained, and was excessively hyper. Know what you are getting into...if you have the time then I commend you for adopting, but there is a reason why min pin are so prevalent in shelters...they take a lot more time then many owners are aware. Also, I recommend that you see if there is a neutral zone where you can introduce your brittany to the min pin to make sure they get along before you adopt. Many animal shelters have a park in the area that they will allow you to take your dog and the perspective new dog.

I have a Britt too-great dogs. I have family with multiple min pins in the same home. My concern with a Britt would be if she is going to be to rough and will she be tolerant of a dog inher home. Britts are not always tolerant of other dogs-she may be fine in a neutral setting, but protective in her own home. You can work past it-just be prepared if it doesn't go smotth at first. Second-Britts can get a little pushy and rowdy when they play. Be aware of that and moniter how they get along. She may be trying to play and the min pin may feel like he is under attack and bam-fight. I love my Britt, but I have seen her "play" with other very tolerant dogs and get on their nerves so bad that she gets a warning nip or growl. From GSD and Labs who are beyond tolerant.

I would read up on min pins at the AKC website and contact a breed group (again, find them on the AKC site). They can give you more info on the breed and the temperment. My honest reply though is, if you are ready for another dog, get a Britt from rescue! Another Britt will match yours in stamina and hardieness. Personally, after having a Britt-I can't imagine another dog that would be a better fit and I hope to adopt a special needs Britt in the next few years (after my girl is out of puppy stage). The American Brittany Rescue has lots of Britts in need. Maybe an older Britt is the answer! Good luck with which ever dog you add to your family. Britts Rule!

I have had a Min Pin for almost 13 years. She's bigger than most. Chocolate and rust but she is the best dog I've owned. She's let my children pull her ears lay on her and she gives love right back. She has cataracts now and has trouble hearing and getting going after getting up but all in all she's an awesome edition to our family. :)

We have two Min Pins and we love them! Our female is 4 years old and the life of the party. :) The male is 2 years old and is a jokester, but very lovable.

Min Pins tend to be very loyal to their people and can sometimes be kind of territorial with other dogs. (We also have an English Setter) Our Min Pins are never hurtful, but they do sometimes stake out territory with growls and yips. Nothing major, though.

If the dog is a puppy and it grows up with your children, I believe it will probably be tolerant and affectionate with your kids. My daughter was 7 when we first got Jasmine (female Min Pin), and she is very loved. Though my little one did tend to pester the poor dog , she is probably Jasmine's favorite person.

Min Pins are very entertaining. They make us laugh all the time, and they are very affectionate and loving. Jasmine loves to sleep in my lap and snuggle under a blanket.

I think that Min Pins, as with most dogs, will behave as they are treated. If you love them and teach them acceptable behavior, they will love you back and behave quite well.

Hope this helps! :)

Min Pins are good dogs. The only thing is make sure when you look for a dog to pick one that isn't excited and jumpy. They have an excessive amount of energy so choose one that already seems calm, you'll be thankful you did in the long run. Also, a great way to introduce a dog into the pack would be to let them meet in a neutral territory, and to let your current dog be the dominant one immediatley. Let your dog smell them, mount them whatever it takes for him to assume the dominant role w/o getting aggressive. Don't let them meet face to face, very confrontational.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7XV

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

It depends on the dog. Every dog has a unique personality. I had a min pin that had a sweet disposition, but when we gave him to a friend, he was vicious within a year.

yes, but I am the type to believe EVERY dog is a good dog, and it just depends on your lifestyle and personality how you and the dog will get along. Go to your local Library and research research and then research some more to make sure that you will get along with this breed from 13+ years.

Every one I've met has been a doll, but all dogs are different, in general though they are VERY playful and friendly =)
