Since you are only 13 you have a lot going on in your body. You have hormones that are raging in your body. Many kids you age feel this "depression." It could be all the hormonal things going on inside or it could be clinical depression. You need to stop the acting with your parents and be honest. You need to be evaluated to see if it is diagnosed depression in which case there are a variety of drugs that may help you. Just don't let the depression take over your life. At 13 we don't make the best decision and I would not want you to do something to harm yourself. A medical evaluation is a must so go talk to your parents and start the process to get better.

Yes, it is possible to be depressed only at times. My depression has always been situational in difficult or stressful times. When everything is going well in my life and my stress levels are low I do fine off my antidepressants. But when a certain situation comes up, it can trigger a depression. Situations in the past that have triggered my depression include going through a breakup with someone I loved, living by myself for the first time, having mono, having severe mold allergies April to October and more recently a dentist messing up on two of my molars to the point where I may lose them both. So absolutely depression can be situational. I am a prime example.

When you mention teachers and parents, that indicates a youthful age. It is entirely possible to have episodic depression, most likely brought on by the hormonal hell that is adolescence.
It can be diet or health. Maybe you are highly sensitive to food structures and on some days, all the right chemicals are in place, other days, maybe you neglected nutrition and are out of balance.
Your level of sleep will affect your emotional state. Not enough rest, at least for me, almost invariably compromises not only my concentration levels, but my mood.
In short, yes, depression can be episodic. It's a question of it's severity and frequency. If it's becoming a very frequent thing, it would be worth talking to someone about.

This seems like it could be minor depression. You should talk to someone who can help you. (The discussion itself might help.) Depression can be caused by a number of things including physical imbalances.
Note that I'm NOT a mental health professional. But, I think it is rare for most people who suffer from depression to have the symptoms all the time -- unless they have a severe case. Also, remember, you are not alone. Many people suffer from depression and help is available. Remember that all of us have bad days even if we do not show it. Perhaps all you need is to talk things over with someone you trust.
Good luck,

A lot of the feelings you're dealing with are probably a result of hormone fluctuations. This is very emotional time in your life (it is for most teens). We're not meant to be happy 24/7... we're also not meant to be in a depressed state (not able to get up out of bed, not wanting to socialize, not being able to sleep or sleeping too much, having thoughts of suicide...). Please sit down and talk to your mom. Tell her that you really need her to listen to you because you're scared. Ask her to take you to see a doctor for a complete physical. Be sure to eat healthy foods and exercise (even if it's just a 30 minute a day walk). Be an advocate for your own health (sometimes you have to push people before they'll really listen). Take care and I wish you all the very best...

We all go through periods of depression, yes. But if are feeling that you have to put on a show and are hiding how you feel you are not doing yourself justice. It would be a very smart decision on your part to speak with someone you trust about how you are feeling. You should be careful with depression. It could be a very normal thing or you could have some medical issues which are treatable. Please seek help.

Yes, it is possible for people who are clinically depressed to have good days.
From your description, it might be something other than depression. Anything from hormones to blood sugar to being too tired to normal emotional let-down after a lot of emotional stimulation being with people.
You need to talk with your doctor about this and ask for a referral to a mental health professional who can help you figure it out.
Don't worry about worrying your parents and teachers. It's their job to be concerned about you. Let them do their job. You do your job, which is to grow up as healthy, happy, well-adjusted and well-educated as you can.
If you ever have sucidal thoughts, you should talk with your doctor immediately.

Everyone normally has good days and bad days. When you have clinical depression, there are no good days. Happiness doesn't come from external motivations, happiness is a choice. When you are alone, it is more likely boredom you feel, not depression.
Truly, when one is clinically depressed, one doesn't go out with one's friends and have good times because one really doesn't care anymore.
And your friends do not make you happy, you make yourself happy because you are with them. Stop relying on other people and circumstances to "make" you happy, it never works....you have to decide to be happy and content from moment to moment
No you are not clinically depressed, you just need to mature..

Depression is a 600 year old problem.
Everybody has it some time or other in their life.
Your problem of not having motivation to be happy is the main reason of your depression,so try to be with your gay friends.
