PENSACOLA, Fla. - When the bikes Dennis and Tamie Leporin bought themselves for Christmas to ride with their young son disappeared from their front lawn, the couple posted a sign to let the thieves know their disappointment.

"I hope U crooks enjoy our bikes U stole; Merry X-Mas," the sign read.

The next evening the couple heard a knock at their door and found an envelope with $200 inside. A pickup truck was driving away.

"Inside was a note that read, 'For every crook, there are 1,000 good people'," Dennis Leporin told the Pensacola News Journal.

I would be the type of person to do something uncommonly good as well...however, since I can't stand people who are too damn lazy to spell a three letter word like "you" , I would just put up a sign that says "Thx 4 the bikes, I hope U have a merry christmas 2!"

Nope - Id never steal a bike..... Why do you ask??

If I had the financial ability to give away $200, yes I would. I dont, so I tend to give a little less. All year long - not just at Christimas time. And, Im an Atheist.

There are good people (and bad ones) in every group, no matter what their beliefs or lack thereof.

I've done similar things, and I'm a hardcore atheist. It's about having empathy and respect for your fellow human beings, not about a belief in mythical gods. We're all in this world together, helping each other out is just the right thing to do.

What was the question?
1)Would I steal the bike?
2)Would I post sign?
3)Would I leave note?
4)Would I leave money?

If I had the money, I would do it. I'm not religious but I believe being kind to each other is the cornerstone of a healthy society. Kindness, with no expectation of reward, is something that demonstrates the highest level of human behavior.

If I had the extra $200, sure I would do it. I'm not certain that this good samaritan's numbers are accurate. Maybe we should test the theory by posting signs in our front yard to see how many envelopes we'd receive. heheh ...........(J/K)

I would if I had the extra cash to spare, but I usually end up spending all my savings on my family. But I do disagree the ratio has to be allot higher than 1-1,000 that would be pretty pathetic if true.

Yes. If I knew someone who had something stolen (Christmas or not) I'd try to help them out if I can. Anonymously giving money is a good idea and I hope they had a good Christmas.

If I had the money, they would have had two new Trek's sitting on their front porch for another neighbor to steal!- Helping out another person is not limited to religious people... we do it too.
