Are you sure about the colors? I have only known of grey dark to medium, but a black color in a keet I need to look up. Bird owners/lovers need an awful lot of patience and time to care for our social buddies. I found some sites on keet care, but can not post them here until I have read them myself for the ultimate care of your buddy. At this point until I or you research keets you really should show them a lot of attention. Good luck, I'll be back with answers if possible.

First and foremost - DON'T REACT!

Wear thick gloves if you have to, to begin with.

Don't let the bird know that the biting is bothering you.

I have had cockateils, budgies and currently have Indian Ringneck Parrots who have had this problem. It has worked for all of them. Neighbours even gave me their bird for a month to stop it from biting!

Try to scratch the bird on the top or side of it's head to distract it when it is trying to bite you. Be persistant. Do it many times a day for like, 5 minutes or less at a time so that the bird doesn't get too stressed.

The bird will realise that not only are you not going to hurt it, but it's biting isn't working and your scratching feels good!

You could also try someone of the opposite sex to you - handling the bird. Sometimes they respond better.

Good luck!
