Get up out of bed.
Fix some toast with butter, or a bun or roll. Enjoy.
Or:
Mix a tablespoon of dry cocoa powder with a tablespoon or so of granulated sugar and a sprinkle of table salt. Mix together well. If you use powdered milk, add about three or four tablespoons full of dry milk powder. Mix the dry stuff together in a big cup. Add a little pat of butter if you like. Then add hot water. If you use refrigerated milk, stir the milk into the cocoa, sugar, and salt; then, add the cold milk a little at a time while stirring. Heat it in the microwave oven, but watch for boiling over -- it happens really fast. I usually heat the milk by itself before adding to the dry ingredients. Sip and enjoy with the lights out.
You'll be fast asleep soon afterward.

If you just can't quiet your mind enough to sleep, but you need to sleep, put on some instrumental music and lay back and follow the notes with your mind. It will quiet your thoughts and allow you to sleep.
If you can't sleep because you have to stay awake, don't eat carbs. They put you to sleep. Eat protein. Nuts are a real brain food with few carbs and lots of protein.

Do something relaxing. Take a shower, read or listen to some musice...soft music of course. You may also consider changing how you sleep...change your pillow or blanket etc.
