have traveled to the Carribean, which required a birth certificate. I want to travel outside the U.S. and A. again this winter, but now need a passport for that kind of travel. How do I obtain one?

Go to your local post office to get a passport, you can visit the US postal website prior to going so you can print up all of the forms and it has all of the information you will need to know.

First if you are from a Connecticut you should know that we do not use the term US and A. If you must separate them it would be the U.S. of A as in the United States of America. But most Americans refer to it as simply the USA. If you live in a large city you can go to your local Post Office for a passport.

Any post office can give you an application for a passport. You need to take an original copy of your birth certificate with you. the cost is $80 . They tell you it takes 6-8 weeks to get one but I got mine in 10 days. They try to charge you an extra $25 to have it sent express but there is no need for it.Save your money.

Post Office is the best place...they have the forms and most will take the picture for you too. Sometimes taking up to 6 weeks to get it so better hurry. You can pay for a rush however. Also, starting January even Caribbean you will need a passport.
