Yes, it is possible. Diet and exercise is what it takes. Eat a proper diet with lots of proteins and good carbs. Eat less calories than what you burn, but not too much less. Start at about 1500 calories for a week and adjust as needed.

For exercise, to get "semi-muscular" you will need to lift weights. There are a lot of routines out there you can try. Find one that you enjoy and won't bore you to the point you lose motivation. Cardio is also good exercise for burning the fat off.

How long will it take? There are too many variables to really say. But, you should start seeing results in a couple of weeks if you stick to it. It does take time and a lot of hard work, but the final results are worth it.

Yes, but be realistic. You aren't going to do it in a couple weekends or even a couple months. We talking long term commitment and probably a while before you see results. But you will see them if you do this:
1. Join a gym. Serious. No amount of walks around the block or stretchy bands you see on tv are going to do the trick. That's why even amateur athletes don't mess with that stuff.
2. Get a trainer. Trainers can be expensive, so shop around and find a gym that your membership includes training sessions. I got pressured into joining the first gym I looked at and while it is a good facility, the trainers are expensive and are not included in the membership. Learn from my mistake and don't let a slick sales rep talk you into signing a contract right then and there. They'll tell you to sign now or this offer won't be there or whatever, but oh well. Gyms are -always- running specials all the time. Look around.
3. Treat the training like boot camp and the trainer like a drill sergeant.
4. Realize this is a permanent lifestyle change. You can't drop the weight and say it's time to sit on the couch and eat cheese.
5. Lastly, be realistic. You are not going to look like a 20 year old gymnast unless you have the genes of a 20 year old gymnast. But you -can- look like the slimmer, sexy 40 year old in you that wants to get out.

No go for it.

Yes. Eat 1,200 calories a day. Strength train with weights. That will tone you up proper in about 3 months. Walk for 30 minutes about 4 times a week to speed up the process. I lost 50lbs following this method over a period of 3 months. Look and feel great now.

Hi there,

To answer your question, of course! You just need proper diet and exercise. See you doctor before starting a diet if you have any conditions or are on any medications.

Generally you only want to lose 2 lbs a week, otherwise you can run into problems with malnutrition and your body will switch to starvation mode (you'll burn muscle instead of fat). So you are looking at about 25 weeks.

Good luck!!

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

At least a year. A pound a week is reasonable if you are working hard at getting in shape, not simply losing weight. You need a certain amount of food to fuel the workouts to build muscle. So you are far better off losing one pound a week, steadily, as you get into shape, than trying to go faster and finding it a pace you cannot sustain.
