Hi,

A parakeet can lay 1-6 (or more) eggs in a clutch. they lay an egg every other day until they have a full clutch

So if she layed one two days ago another should be layed today, When you notice the second egg has been layed she should then start to incubate it!

Incubation takes atleast 20days then they should hatch, if you havent heard any chicks in 20 days or you cant see any leave the eggs for an extra two or three days just to make sure,

You can also "candle" the egg if you wanted to, at about 12 days, wash your hands and dry them take an egg from the bird hold it up to the light and if its part dark and part white inside theres a chick in there if its just "clear" as in there is no dark its just like a peach color then there is no baby in there its infertile.

I Have to ask has she got a male thou? she needs a male to make the egg fertile....

Also because she is laying eggs make sure she gets plenty of calcium, you can get this at pet stores in the form of a cuttle fish. or powder to sprinkle on her food, also supply fresh fruit and veg for her.

If yu do decide to candle the egg only do it once or you could kill off the chick.

Goodluck

if you only have a female bird then the eggs will not hatch. you would have also had to have a male bird in the cage for any chance of the eggs hatching.

It depends if you have a male parakeet in the cage with it and they mated. If so they will hatch in 18 days. If their is no male parakeet in the cage the eggs are not fertil.

This is a good question for your vet. If you have an egg-laying bird and you are inexperienced, the vet can teach you about proper care of the birds.

If you don't have a vet, you can find one at http://aav.org/vet-lookup
