Possibly because they are smart and strong enough to be able to separate the entertainment from the reality and not be negatively influenced by it.

Music only has an effect like that if you allow it. Personally, I teach my kid about the real world and even with some of the music he listens to, he doesn't do the things they sing about. Nor does he act the way some of the people in the bands do. I would rather teach my child how not to be so gullible, than to lean on the idea that "bad" music does something TO people. It doesn't. If they do something because they hear it in a song, they were already thinking about something along those lines and use the music/lyrics as a justification of it.
I think it's high time parents and others stop blaming everything else for how their kids turn out.

This is where people with understanding come in. If you can see that something is dark, then you must shine a little light on it so that maybe another can wake a little bit from the dark dream. Sometimes I feel like speeding up the process with a frying pan in hand (lol), but of course it doesn’t work that way at all. Mistakes will be made as human will reigns, but all eventually will come back. Some of the lyrics today are very bad, and maybe there are many more artists in the gutter of humanity, but this also existed years ago too. This whole matter is just a part of the journey.

From what Ive noticed, music only impacts you certain ways if you already feel some emotions similar to it. A love song doesnt have nearly as much effect on you if you are not in love as when you are. Same goes for any music. I am a Christian and I listen to all kinds of music. If I dont like a song its because the music or the lyrics dont suit me. If I was forced to listen to death metal all day every day, it wouldnt cause me to suddenly think the words/music are good, it would just make it more annoying to me. People dont hear song lyrics that they dont agree with and become inspired by it. Music only puts thoughts we already have into song form, it doesnt change what someone already believes into something different.

Last time I checked Christianity was concerned with morality. Don't tell me next Christians will decided on good tastes. Music is an expression of the soul and speaks of the human condition, some music speaks of public outrage while others speak of spiritual bliss. Granted I don't care to listen to music that speaks ill of others but that doesn't mean I would say that others shouldn't listen to it. Music and religion are about choices and like it or not everyone has the right to choose.

you answered your own question pretty much. And honestly its not so much that its bad music its the sound and what they like. you have to listen to the words most people choose certain songs that have a reflection on whats going on in their life. Its not so much that its a religious thing or that it even effect their spiritual life it effects whats going on in their life at the time. Not everyone is happy or sad or angry all the time. If you have a love for music you have a love for every type of music.
you really just have to understand that not everyones beliefs are the same. even poeple with the same beliefs as you have..have different opinions on things. you just have to take a look at the big picture.

It depends upon what you consider "bad" music. There is music that I personally detest that other people think is great. For example, I prefer Bach, Handel, et.al. for church music. To me that is the most majestic and spiritual music in the world. However, there are people that prefer the contemporary Christian music that turns my stomach. I also love rock, punk, new wave, 60s folk, 60s rock, big band, and jazz. On that note, I am a very devout Episcopalian. I don't think my taste in music does anything damaging to my spiritual life.

Dear Princess,
You have made a good point. Music affect our emotions and our actions. I used to listen to the theme of "Rocky" when I was working out and I must say that I worked out much harder. The music influenced me. There are fast food restaurants that play loud "rock" music because they want the people to eat quickly. There are other restaurants that play easy listening music because they want people to relax and enjoy their dinning experience.
The Bible tells us, "Abstain from all appearance of evil." Although many believe this to refer to visual evil, please consider some of the vile, hateful verbage in rap music. Please note the lascivious language in country/western music, rock, and pop. Even jazz has a sensual tone to it that is ungodly.
Now I keep my radio on a Christian station that plays the good christian hymns and Bible reading.

The term "bad music" is a personal point of view. For example I think rap is bad. But that's my opinion. I also think anything by Paris Hilton is bad but apparently someone bought her cd. Go figure.
