We atheists have a lot to believe in. Nature and the workings of the universe. It is irrational to define all that in a humanistic form. Humans are a miniscule part of the universe and our demise would not change the universe at all. So why should we define a god by our terms?

I agree, we need to forget the myth based religions and start with science as a framework to solve the whole god question. After that we can ask if there is a personality responsible for the creation.

I don't define a God in any terms but it is fun to mess with them who do. Why else do Christians and Athenians love messing with each others heads. Remember the movie 2001 where the monkey was throwing the bone up into the air as if defying the Universe or was it God he was defying. Religion begin when Man climbed down out of the treas rubbed two sticks together and said let there be light and invented man made fire. That's how God was defined. xx

God has given His word to many followers, telling everyone His word and laws. It is He who created the universe, whether or not it contains other intelligent life. Yes, Christians do think critically and look deep into all ideas. Some may not do this as much as others, but do not lump all Christians together. I shunned God for years, but deep thought and a whole lot of your "coincidences" showed me the true power and glory of God. It was through my deep and critical thinking that I found God, and choose to praise and worship His glory.

Atheists have a lot to believe in? How hard is it to believe in something you can see such as "nature and the workings of the universe". But to look at these things and not see God in them? That takes guts and to tell you the truth I am just not that brave.

Why should we define God by our terms?
We shouldn't.
Although you might choke on the following, its still true:
The Bible defines God on His terms.
Now say: "Ha! The Bible."

It has indeed been mis-represented for centuries.
That does not mean, however, that what it actually say is false.

We are but one of many civilizations that have blinked off and on throughout time like fireflies in a night meadow. In the grand scheme of things we are all but meaningless. So just enjoy the ride while it lasts.

I cannot understand why an atheist would bother to believe ANYTHING. If I could be an atheist I would live only for the moment. Kill , rob , rape , why not ? Say do you have any gold teeth ?

Gee, I don't know. But, if you don't define "God" the way the Muslims do, they will delete you.

(Peace be to ... everyone, so tell the Muslims to stop deleting us, and polluting our chat group with encyclopedic volumes of quotations.)

Why would an infinite existence revolve around finite man? It makes no sense.
