Hey,
I know I'm way behind here, but I'm wondering the best poker sites that accept US players, and how to go about making deposits to them. I used to play at InterPoker, Full Tilt, and PokerStars but withdrew all my money after the Gambling laws went into effect. Can you just resubmit deposits as you would beforehand? How do deposits/withdrawals work these days? I got an Email from Interpoker stating they would no longer accept US players. Is that the case for the other two?

Also, any good rakeback sites would be appriciated as well. Thanks.

Also, I previously used FirePay to make deposits and withdrawals. Is that still a viable option? Is NetTeller better? Anything else? Thanks again.

1) Firepay can no longer be used to fund online poker accounts. Use NETeller instead to fund your online poker accounts.

2) InterPoker no longer accepts US players.

3) With the recent passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 by the United State Congress, the "best site" now depends on where you reside, since some sites have stopped taking new players from the United States (or from specific states in the United States).

I recommend three sites in particular for their nice bonuses, great game selection, and excellent sit-and-go tournaments at all stakes. As of this writing, all of these sites take players from any state in the US (as well as all non-US players, of course).

Mansion Poker: http://www.mansion.com/?trackid=192749
FullTilt: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/?key=MDAwMDJCNTMwMDAwNjhEMjIwODA4MDIxMDAwMDAwMDA
PokerStars: http://www.pokerstars.com/?source=robertmedl.com

If these sites are not to your liking, there are many, many more poker sites that you can check out.
US players that reside in any of IL, IN, LA, MI, NJ, NV, NY, OR, SD, WA, WI: http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php?as_usa=1&SRC=YahooAnswers&t=Poker
US players from all other states have a few more choices available: http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php?as_usa=2&SRC=YahooAnswers&t=Poker
Non-US players have the most choices: http://theonlinecasinogamblingdirectory.com/s.php?SRC=YahooAnswers&t=Poker

Best of luck!
Robert

Some good answers here, but some misinformation as well.

Online poker is not illegal in the U.S, but depositing and withdrawing may become more difficult in the future; however, many poker rooms still accepting U.S. players have vowed to make customer transactions as easy as possible no matter what happens, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Neteller is still the best alternative for the time being.

You can just deposit as you did beforehand, but you may need to use an alternative method like Neteller, which is very secure and popular anyway.

PokerStars and Full Tilt still welcome your business, as do many other popular poker sites.

The majority of popular poker rooms still accepting U.S. players offer rakeback in one form or another; unfortunately PokerStars is not one of them, but they do have a pretty good VIP program, although it doesn't compare to rakeback, money-wise.

To get rakeback you need to go through a reputable affiliate who offers rakeback at a room you are interested in. Make sure that you don't already have an account at the poker room. For example, if you are already a Full Tilt member and don't already get rakeback, you're going to have to jump through some hoops to get things sorted out, if it's even possible. Contact one of the affiliates listed at RakeBreakers to see what you're options are. A listing of the poker rooms still allowing U.S. players can be found there as well.

Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Online poker is not illegal, there is no law stating that playing poker online is illegal. A new law was passed recently forbidding the banks to transfer money to online gambling websites - but that's on the banks. Let them, for once, deal with stupid laws :)

Many poker rooms disappeared, as they were publicly held, and has to answer to their shareholders, but some of them are now starting to accept US players again, and some never stopped.

Just do a search on the web and you will find poker rooms still accepting US players.

FirePay no longer accepts US customers, but there are plenty of other payment methods.
