Hi there...Born2Bloom's answers is most likely correct. When cats scoot their bums it generally means their anal sacs are impacted sometimes worms can also contribute to this behaviour. The Anal glands need to be expressed which a vet can show you how to do.

Well those are two different things. First cats like to claw and grab at the carpet with their claws to strengthen and stretch their paws and claws. Second, when cats drag their bottom on the foor it usually means that they have worms. You will need to take the cat to the vet to get dewormed. To check for this you should be able to see worms in the litter box or sometimes they are hanging out of the bottom. They are long skinny straggly things that are white. It is easy to treat the worms but left untreated the worms will eat away at the nutrients inside that cat which can make the cat sicker. There use to be a medicine you could get over the counter at a pet store but I don't know how effective that is now It won't cost much to have it treated by the vet. As for the scratching, spray your cat with a spray bottle full of water, that is a good way to get them to stop. You should also buy a scratching post for your cat so they can scratch at that and only that

Could mean a parasite, like tape worm. But more than likely it is full anal sacs. There are two little sacs that are on the inside of the anus, when then cats has a bowel movement, the sacs empty. But sometimes for one resaon or another, the sacs don't get emptied. Nothing really to worry about too much, but they should get emptied by your vet because they are umcomfortable and would possibly get infected. It's a very easy and quick procedure, takes like 2 seconds. Good luck!

believe the 1st 2 posters. in basic terms have your groomer or vet teach you the thank you to appropriate trim your cat's nails. there is in no way any reason to amputate your cat's ft. you additionally can use the gentle paws over a trimmed nail too. Do you have a stable scratching positioned up as nicely? in case you do and that they are not utilising it, it may well be the textile. some desire sisal rope, some carpeting and so forth. shop fooling around with diverse scratching ideas for them. If the cat is male, chances are his anal glands are full and needs them cleaned out. This can be done easily - but it is messy and not a very "clean" thing to describe. So please don't be offended - anyone. I have to do this every 3 weeks for my male cat, Cupid, on his bath day. After I've wet him down and put the shampoo on him, I gently but firmly squeeze the anal gland on his backside. The cat will fight, struggle and even try to get away - so be sure you have a firm hold. What comes out is not pretty, nor pleasant smelling. But it has to come out! Squeeze several times and be sure you have out as much as you can. Usually I rinse his backside as I do this so I don't have to touch it anymore than I have to - but bathing your cat is optional. The idea is to squeeze out the clogged gland and remove the build-up. This may take several times until you get it all, so the first time you should do it every day for several days until you get no more results. Then you can safely do this every few weeks.

If you feel uncomfortable doing this, take him to a vet and he/she can do this instead. It will cost you, obviously, but you may also get to watch the procedure and be able to repeat it. My vet showed me the first time I had to do it and now I never have to have the vet do it when I take Cupid back for checkups, even though he always checks anyhow ;-)

Yes he needs help! he has worms! certain kinds of worms can give kitties itchy bums and they drag themselves on the carpet to relieve themselves. Either that, or he ate something he shouldn't have. We had a cat once who ate ribbon (like off a christmas gift) and when it came time for the ribbon to come out, he couldn't push it out normally so he had to scrape his behind on the rug in an effort to pull the ribbon out. Sorry if that's too graphic but take a peek at his behind and then take him to the vet! Deworming is inexpensive and usually very easy to do.

If she does it regularly she might have a problem like worms, urinary problems, clogged smell glands, and in general something which should be checked out by a vet as soon as possible. So get the transporter out and get booking!

My cat did it on a couple of occasions to clean her butt on my carpet! It was lots of fun to watch, but cleaning up after was a bit less funny! Still, you can't really ask her to use the toilet paper, can you?

although this could be a sign of many things, its most likely a sign of discomfort...ur best bet is going to the vet because alothoug it could be an infection, it could also be discomfort int the legs, and possible nerve damage in the lower back. The cat could be tring to show you that his back and hind legs hurt.

Take him to the vet

It could be nothing but it could also be somthing seriose

Good luck

It means he's not wiping himself correctly after he defecates. You should get the cat a video that shows the correct procedure, or failing that, you should wipe the cat yourself, using only the best and most expensive tissue.

He most likely has clogged anal glands and this is classic behavior for this problem. Take him to the vet. It is very simple and your vet will most likely show you what to do in case it happens in the future if you are comfortable doing it. They simply squeeze them by grasping with thumb and forefinger and the most horrible smelling crap comes out and your problem will be gone. It's a very simple job but most likely one of the stinkyest you'll ever encounter.
