Is Christmas Worshipping God in Vain?
Since Christmas is a jumble of ancient pagan customes invented by men, and a holiday found nowhere in the Bible, does God honor or accept such worship?
Jesus provides the answer in His stern rebuke of the religious teachers of his day, men who had substituted human traditions and teachings for God's divine truth and commands " Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites....' in vain they worship me, teaching doctrines the commandments of men' All to well reject the commandment of God , that you may keep your tradition " ( Mark 7:6-9)

You know in the 17th Century christmas was actually outlawed in England and some parts of American colonies because of its unbiblical and pagan origins. They knew something most people today have forgotton or have never known.

Please tell me what you think on this issue

The Church started to celebrate Christmas in order to convert Pagans who were celebrating the Winter Solstice. It was very easy to take over the holy places of the Pagans, put up new churches, and tell them to celebrate the birth of the son of God a day or two after they would have wanted to celebrate the birth of the Sun God. But of course, once the Church started to celebrate this it is next to impossible to stop it now.

This depends on your own belief, I am open to the idea, but in my own views I see that I am representing Christmas as the day Jesus was born, this is a time where we can teach ourselves and our children about Jesus and his teaching and why God sent him to us...Just like other times in the year we are able to teach certain ways of life...Such as black history month or Presidents Day...None of us can get a date right and we know that the Christmas was not the day Jesus was born, but July 4th is not the day the Declaration of Independence was signed either...Not everyday do we think about the time Jesus was born so we spend a month preparing ourselves and remembering why he was given to us by our dear Father...But, everyone has there opinions on the Bible and what it says, to me I believe that the Bible is different for everyone, you must look in your heart and see what God is personally telling you.

Well Christmas is named after the catholic church named it as such.

Christ = christian

mas = gathering

You don't worship God by celebrating christmas, Christmas is a choice, you don't have to celebrate it to worship Him.

The date December 25th is just that, A DATE, it doesn't matter, what matters is that God came to this world to save humanity and that you recognize that by giving your life to him and worship Him everyday and everything you do.

If Christmas offers the opportunity to get off work and be with your family and exchange gifts so be it, no problem there.

I think like in ALL things, both commanded in the Bible and not commanded, that its the heart of man God will judge. If your worshipping God in your heart (which shoudl be every day), then you have nothing to worry about. However, I feel even myself as a Christian has problem with this day not being God centered, but man centered. Careful on the measuring stick you use though, it will be used to measure you as well.

Christmas was actually started by the Romans. It was a week long in which the courts were closed and all laws were nullified. It was adopted by the church in the 17th century.

It's not ""Christmas" we worship but "Christ" Himself. We worship the fact that God came to this earth to save us. There is a song called, "What a Strange Way to Save the World", I think it was by a group called 4Him. It helps explain things.

I think it's a red herring thrown out to irritate Christians. Sadism is practiced by many. (Sadism is the derivation of pleasure as a result of the suffering of others.) Who am I to judge? Merry Christmas.

Easter has mostly pagan rituals, too. All religions build on the traditions that came before. We're only human.

More to the point - Why would a big guy like god even need to be worshipped? Isn't that a bit childish ?
