My cat is a female, about 2 years old. I may have been imagining it, but last night her ears looked reddish on the inside and they were pretty warm to the touch. Is this how a cat shows a fever? Or what else could it be? I'm taking her to the vet soon for a regular check up but wanted to know if I should rush her in sooner?

The only way to find out if your cat has a fever is to take it to her vet and have her temperature taken. Their normal body temp is 100.5-102.5 F, so they are naturally going to feel warm to the touch. Their ears and nose ARE NOT accurate indicators of a fever.

yes this could show a sign of a fever. It would be better if you took your kitty to the vets office earlier. Just to be safe. Good Luck!

When my cat was sick with a fever his ears were pretty warm and he seemed lethargic unless you have a rectal thermonitor i would try to get an earlier appt.

The ears are a sign. If you have an electronic thermometer (one which cannot break in her bum), you can take the temperature yourself, when she is very calm and lying down, lubricate the thermometer with petroleum gelly, and put it softly in his bum, and if the temperature is higher than 38,5 degrees Celsius call the vet immediately.

Yes that could show a fever. Is her nose warm and dry. It should feel cool and moist.
