We have a very good idea where Bin Laden is; the mountains of Pakistan outside of Afghanistan. Pervez Musharraf the President of Pakistan has been a supporter of the war on terror but since Afghanistan became a warzone he has had a steady stream of terrorists flowing into the northern border region of his country. He recently(several months ago) stated to the dismay of the US that he would no longer pursue terrorists within his country as long as they were obeying the laws and not causing problems. Hence, every terrorists in the world (especially bin laden) has a friendly base to operate out of and they are in a key position to attack coalition forces in Afghanistan and then sneak back across the border where they are protected by Pakistan.
Many countries like Pakistan, France, Germany etc. are very cautious about their support of the war on terror because of their large Islamofascist (aka muslim terrorists) populations. Many European countries refuse to give support because if they do they will be targeted by terrorists within their own countries. Musharraf is harboring bin laden and his organization so he does not get attacked, it is as simple as that. We could drop a bomb on OBL right now but it would be seen as an attack on Pakistan and that would be a bit of a problem.

The search for Bin Laden is still ongoing. It's just not being televised, thank goodness. I'm sure Bin laden would like a little heads up on where the search is heading.
Have you ever looked at a map of the region where he is hiding? It's not like going from house to house searching. The area is very remote with nothing but mountainous regions and desert.
Another point, is searching for one man isn't as easy as people think it is. There are serial killers who have stayed hidden for many many years, and some were never caught.
Of course, it's gotten to the point now that finding Osama will not accomplish anything but drawing more attention to Osama. The fighting would not stop the day we find him.
Hopefully if and when they find him, they won't let him climb out of his hidey hole like they did Saddam.

I say the same thing everyday! How did we get from Bin Laden to searching for weapons? Isn't this a GRUDGE move between the old and the new? We did need a reason to protect certain interest. It's like going for the jugular while no ones looking. I think most American people have given this a lot of thought it scares me that the politicians don't think as well as the public!

First of all the war in Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with the hunt for Bin Laden. Saddam and his government were never accepted by Bin Laden.
While still seem to be looking for Bin Laden, it is apparant that there are bigger problems on our hands. The entire region is a tenderbox and we may have well lit the match with the Iraq invasion. That has to be our top prority. And keep in mind, arresting Bin Laden will not solve our problems. His shoes will be quickly filled by another.

Iraq had nothing to do with Bin Laden. Afghanistan however does. The resources have been redirected to focus on where they will do the most good. Those under Bin Laden. Why spend all your resources getting just the guy when we can take out his whole network for the same money.

They still search for Bin Laden.
The US media doesn't really do a good enough job on reporting good progress made in Iraq. It's interesting when the soldiers speak (Which I think Is the Real Story) they are optimistic and feel that they are contributing to the Iraqi people who desperately need their help.
The US media is too busy ingesting headlines like "Death Toll Surpasses 9-11 in Iraq" into US citizens heads. To me Iraq is in no way or should never be compared to 9/11. It is two different subjects. One of devastation and one of people helping people.
Sorry for the tirade...Good Question!

What is being done to find Bin Laden is kept quiet and out of the news, as it should be. Kinda hard to find a guy if the world knows where you are looking.
There will be an announcement when he is found.

basically, we were at war with afghanistan until this whole ordeal with iraq owning "weapons of mass destruction" came into play. then, instead of focusing on al quieda (sp?) in afghanistan, we turned our attention to iraq and overthrowing saddam and intercepting his "weapons of mass destruction". however, we found no such weapons, yet saddam was still yanked out of leadership. so, now we made this whole big mess over there and the Iraqi people are pissed and there are still saddam's insurgents who hate us and want us dead. so, we are trying to put in a new government that is strong enough to control the country. until they can govern themselves we can't leave b/c we kind of created the mess.
as far as i know "they" have determined that bin laden's remains were found and are no longer actively searching for him. apparently, he was pretty old and was having kidney failure and dialysis every day. eventually, his kidney's gave out and he died in a cave somewhere. his people are still a threat, though.
hope this helped.
take care!

The misinformation you elude to can be blamed on the mainstream media who apparently wishes to portray only negative news. The campaigns in the mountains of Afghanistan are central to the hunt for Bin Laden and his Taliban insurgent supporters. The only time you hear about it is when one of our brave troops pays the ultimate sacrifice. As Don Henley said in his 1982 hit, "we love dirty laundry".

There were unconfirmed reports that French led NATO forces in Afganistan spotted Bin Laden twice. But the US commanders didn't authorize any action.
Its possible that Bush may not want Bin Laden found. Anyone informed enough may know what I am talking about, regarding Bush's personal objectives.
