my hair is wavy and when it dries it gets really frizzy.

Their are many products. See what one is best for you?
Ask around ask others if they have done it.
It is expensive and it takes a commitment to keep up.
Learn how to use a flat iron because in the end you will have to anyway.

Check out salons they most always give free consultations about that and other products. They would know what one is best for you hair type.

I think you're talking about "rebonding"... at least that's what it's called here in the Philippines. A huge amount of women have had their hair rebonded here... including myself. It's a semi-permanent to permanent procedure depending on how good the quality of the rebonding is. Sometimes the straightness of your hair can last for a eight months, a year, or more...and it will never turn back to its normal waviness or curliness. The hair would just become less straight eventually. But if your hair is extremely curly, then forget about rebonding because as your hair grows, the top of your head would grow curly hair while the bottom would ofcourse stay straight which will really not look good. The good quality salons who use good-quality chemicals/ rebonding creams wouldn't really damage your hair, but if you go to an inexperienced salon or a really cheap one, you might end up having split ends and damaging the ends of your hair.

If you have curly hair, don't do it. If you have just a couple of waves, do it. It takes really long, and plus, curly hair looks better than straight hair.

I can't say I know what you're talking about... most Japanese have naturally incredibly straight hair.
