If solomon was a great king, revolutionizing trade and marrying Pharoah's daughter don't you think that he would have made the papyrus? Why is there no mention of Isreal in any Egyptian or Mesopotamian texts.
The first son of God, born to a virgin on Dec 25, died in his thrities, and will gain his believer's entry into heaven upon their death was Mithra (Zoroastrianism, Persian state religion, 1400 BCE Hint: There wasn't even an old testament then)
The Exodus decoded only proved that the plague's were possible. If your going to turn the clock back 300 years you are going to need a better reason then "Let's see what happens when..."
CHristianity thrived because Constantine thought that Rome's Identity could be restored with a religion. Chirstianity was exclusive to within the borders of Rome and made the best choice.
Revelation sounds an awful like the "Year of the Four Emporers (69CE)". Daniel Sounds like the Babylonian Occupation and Jesus showed up just after Rome became Empire.

Certainly there is more. However I only have 1000 characters. What makes you believe and turn a blind eye to fact. If you don't what made you switch?

I'm an agnostic/atheist. Being molested by a Baptist minister did it for me. Then having a male cousin and my husband when he was younger molested by a priest. The hypocrisy is just awful. Then I went to Europe after college and had a chance to talk to at least 100 people about religion. To see that the USA was limiting it's greatness because of religion. And then comparing history, science and logic against the Bible...it just didn't add up. I am a true believer of self instinct - when something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.
And talking to some of these yahoos here on Yahoo Answers, my beliefs are even more firmly rooted.

i have found that no matter how logical you argue the case, for the most part, your aren't going to make a christian not believe in the bible. the will to believe is too strong, and people don't want to give up on the thought that they could experience eternal happiness after death (in heaven) Besides the bible itself tries to defend itself from criticism by saying that skepticism is from satan trying to take you out of god's will.
At best, you can make the more discerning christians think about it a little bit, consider the ramifications of what you said, and then will drop the issue and just figure "it all works out in the end, I guess."

Logic and reason. In confirmation classes at age 11, I asked questions that got me booted for disrupting the class. They could not tolerate any of the serious questions I had and couldn't handle the inquisitive nature of a child. By age 14, I was an agnostic and at 17, a full fledged Atheist. "Because" answers never satisfied me.

What lead me to Atheism?? Three things:
1) Having a brain
2) Being raised a hardcore bible-thumping Christian.
3) Being too smart to fall for the dogmatic lies force-fed by non-secular theology.
Combine those & you can forget about becoming a priest!

It was a combination of History...Archeology, Biblical Contradictions...I didn't even think about Evolution until just recently. I was raised thinking Christianity was the only way...then I wondered if that was true then why do millions of people believe other things...and have faith in what they believe as much as I do about what I believe...once I grasped that aspect of human nature it made me realize that man just made up God...not the other way around.

I never switched. I was born an atheist (like everyone) and my agnostic parents never told me whether or not there was a god. Since I have never found any evidence to suggest that a god exists, I'm still an atheist.

Christianity thrived then as it does now because there are people who have come to know the truth and have been freed by the Truth. History is history--over and gone. What counts is the future and where you will spend Eternity. I hope Jesus shows up in your life on this side of the grave to show you how wrong you are to base life on history alone.
