If the you and the girl can have "staring contests," what does it mean?

So this girl i really really like (not gf... yet) have these weird staring periods where we just look into each other's eyes for a few seconds, smile, and shyly look away. It happens like 5 times per class and i'm wondering if it means anything. does she like me back, or is she just being coy?

That is what you call "The Care Bear Stare" It is a good thing. She obviously likes you. Dont be shy....ask her out.

The next time you two are doing the staring thing, point to her, point to you yourself, and mouth the word "lunch today" or "lunch tomorrow". See what happens. If you have different lunch periods, you could write her a little note just saying hello, and instead of mouthing the lunch thing, point to yourself, the note, then her. Either you got it, or you don't. :-)

talk to her. See what she does. If she blows you off she may just be teasing you. If she does have a conversation though or does something that means she is shy, just take what you got and try to develop your relationship from there.
