within their own states then does this not show religion is likely not the actual cause of men killing each other and that some other force like internal wickedness or desire for power of profit is the more likely culprit??

Wickedness, excessive power and excess profit can be conquered through adequate legislation but religion can not as history proves. Religion has in fact done way more good than harm throughout history.

Atheist Communists are responsible for more killing in the last century than all Christians and Jews in the previous 30 centuries.
Anyone who says atheists are somehow all innocent peaceful people is either lying, an uneducated fool, or possibly both.
Without religion we would not have had most of the scientific progress we now enjoy the fruits of, and would not have the charities that feed peopel after disasters. Ever heard of atheists uniting to feed victims? Neither have I...

'If' !!! That's the question, your implication is clear but you lack any evidence of this little fantasy. "Kill more people than all the wars combined" How many people is that then??
'If' Christians did indeed eat little children wouldn't this prove that Christianity was really evil and caused the deaths of more children than all the wars put together?
'Enforced atheism' I m atheist, which means only that I don't believe in God, it follows then that I object to all religions that ferment hatred between groups of opposing religions. As far as I am aware no one has ever tried to enforce atheism, how could that be done?
Enforce a complete ban on all religions yes, I'm all for that, but people do not need teachers or leaders to believe in God or to tell you that your particular brand is the only true way to redemption. Christians say "The only way to redemption is through Christ" This is informing all other religions throughout the world that they don't have a chance, how condescending can they get? Christianity is in fact the most ubeleivable of the lot!
As for your concluding statement ref religion has done more good than harm.... Absolute BS.

Albania is the only country to ever enforce a system of state atheism. What states are you talking about?
And there's a very important distinction between atheists killing people and killing in the name of atheism. The latter is basically impossible, since the only element of atheism is the lack of a belief in any gods which can't really be interpreted as promoting violence.
There's also a difference between atheism and antitheism. I'm not saying that antitheism has or hasn't been responsible for any deaths, I'm just pointing out that atheism doesn't include an opposition to religion.

You argument is very shaky.

No, religion is not THE cause of men killing each other. But doubtless it can be ONE MORE cause used to wage war or violence. The point is that any inhuman ideology, religious or otherwise, can be used to fuel strife and the demonization of "others."

No one has ever killed in the name of atheism.

If religion can lead to people feel they have to kill others to promote that religion, then the concept of religion leads to death.

That's kinda like saying "Guns don't kill people, people kill people." True, but don't you need a weapon or reason to kill people? (Of course, some people are just crazy and DON'T need a reason.) That reason has often been religion.

Religion is one of the main tools to promote violence. However, nationalism takes a close second.

One is based on gods that don't really exist. The other is based on lines that don't really exist. When we learn to base our differences on real things, we'll probably get along much better.
