I live on the southcoast in Hampshire & I need to go to North Yorkshire early in the new year, I don't drive & don't fancy getting the train. I know it's possible to fly.
I don't have a passport but I've been told I can in the UK without one. Which airport is closest to Harrogate in North Yorkshire & do you know any good tavel sites to book cheap tickets?
Any help will be much appreciated.

The closest airport is Leeds. I have checked for you and flybe fly out of Southampton to Leeds. The site is www.flybe.com Eastern airways also flys to Leeds(Bradford). I think that www.flybe.com will be the cheapest for flights.

You will need an acceptable to the airline, a means of identity. A citizen of the UK and Ireland does not need a passport on internal flights. It is imperative that you check very carefully what the airline accepts as ID. BEFORE YOU BOOK ANY FLIGHTS. It can take long time to get birth certificate and drivers licence paper work, possibly 1 to 5 weeks. Citizens cards 8 to 12 days from the moment you start writing until the ID is in your hands. At the present there seems to be very little standard form of ID. The Government official ID card system that was put together by our erstwhile officials was able to be duplicated Minuit's later by acquiring the reading machinery from the internet and so had to be put on hold.
My advice is to get a Drivers Licence even if you don't ever want to drive as most airlines accept it as ID. but don't take my word for it, CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF. You will NOT be accepted for boarding if you don't present an ACCEPTABLE form of ID, and some airlines will try and keep all of your ticket money tax and charges as well as the seat price. some NO FRILLS airlines are worse than others.
