I'd have it appraised by a jeweler. Then you are less likely to get ripped off. You won't get much if you take it to a jewelry dealer, so I wouldn't even look there. Your best bet is to find a buyer who is looking to buy for his girlfriend, or if there is something else that you're really wanting, try to work out a trade. I traded my engagement ring for a 125 gallon reef tank setup...lol. Some people think that is crazy, but I traded something that I no longer wanted for something that I really did want, and I have never regretted it. BTW, I tried to sell mine on ebay once...top offer was $300 dollars, less than 10% o fthe ring's value. Don't go ebay. If you use the newspaper, set up an anonimous email account. Don't use your phone number or name. Another option is to talk to pawn shop owners. Sometimes pawn shop owners will do a consignment, where you tell how much you want to get for the ring, and they price it higher to get a cut of their own. They then sell it in their shop.

first of all you need an appraisal from a reputaable and certified diamond specialist
second any jewelers or pawn shops you visit are only going to give you scrap weight (5% of the value)
i am sorry but if you have an appraisal i would go the ebay route. you will get the most $$$ out of any avenue you choose. remember the rings are used so you will not recoup anywhere close to the original purchase price

first you need to go to a jewerler and figure out what you have and what size it is, and how much it's worth.
Then Ebay is your best choice because you will get the most money. Any company or pawn shop will give you 10% of it's value. Also ebay is safer then using a newspaper ad or anything else. Trust me, go with ebay.

I'd go to a jewelery store and see how much it's worth then sell it on consignment..some places do this. I've see a lot of people saying pawn shops they rip you off and do not give you near what the items are worth. I tried to sell two gold bands that were 16 or 18 karat and they would only give me $20 for both. If you're wanting to get top dollar I'd seriously check into a store that sells stuff on consignment.

Trouble about pawn shops is how often they're located in desolate shopping centres with high crime rates. Still, it's your best bet I suppose. There are alternatives to Ebay, but to be fair it's an easy, safe and hassle-free solution. You'd probably get more money off it there.

I would take it to a local jewelry shop. Not a chain like at the mall- they won't buy it. I always buy jewelry from a local mom & pop store near me and they buy alot of estate jewelry so I know they would take something like what you have. Look for shops that buy estate stuff. I'm sure they would give you a better deal than a pawn shop.

First have it appraised to get its true value, which does not mean you will actually get that specific price. Visit your yellow page directory, there are stores that actually buy diamonds, gold and silver and they will let you know what they will pay for it. Also, I would at least visit 4 stores before settling.

I would take it to a Jewelry Store in your city first and see if they will appraise it (heck, they may even offer to buy it).
Then go from there. Maybe put an ad in your local paper.

1st find out how much it's worth. You can sell it through your local paper. We've got something called PennySaver here.
