There are all sorts of great sweet wines. Canadian and German Ice Wines, Hungarian Tokaj, Riesling or anything that has "Late Harvest" on the label will be sweet.
Riesling are great because unlike Tokaj or Ice Wines they can be very well priced (Ice wines and Tokaj can be very expensive if you want something good). With Riesling make sure you ask about the sweetness because while a lot of Rieslings are sweet or semi-sweet, dry (not sweet) Riesling are very common (and wonderful).

Sweet whites are more common than reds. With wine, its important to remember: You get what you pay for. Something you absolutely must taste in a sweet white is Ice Wine. You can find Canadian and German Ice Wines relatively easily. The grapes are allowed to freeze on the vine before bieng picked and processed. This allows for a maximum sugar content in the fruit, resulting in a sweet wine. Typically they are served fairly cold as dessert wines.

My favorite sweet, white wine is Sutter Home Moscato. It's around $7 per bottle at the supermarket. It's by no means a "high brow" wine, but it is very good for an everyday wine. I will warn you, though, it is very sweet. It's basically a dessert wine, but I drink it with my dinner sometimes.

A pretty tasty red is:
brand name - Fat Bastard type- Shiraz this wine should be served at about 50 degrees for best flavor.
A nice white is:
brand name- Chateu St. Michele type - Reisling when chilled to about 45 degrees this wine is good and it tastes fine as it warms also.

Riesling
If you look at the alcohol content on a bottle you can usually determine how sweet it is by the alcohol content -higher is usually sweeter (like a desert wine)
I personally love Gewurztraminer (its listed as dry - but to me it taste sweet)

Chianti is a good red.
(I misunderstood your question, I thought you wanted dry wines as well)
