I am, I'm terrible. The slightest little thing has me heading for the NHS Direct website.

Kitten, if we are going to get technical about it, then I should point out that you are wrong. Most hypochondiacs suffer silently and alone. I work in mental health. The idea of people shrieking about cuts etc rarely happens. It's an internal terror.

I might be. I look like the opposite, cause I play with animals, I don't mind getting wounded form falls off horseback or scratches etc, but I have a huge knowledge of medical issues and drugs (I am not in the medical business at all, but doctors are surprised with how much I know), and this is due to the fact that I learn everything in depth when I have any minor symptom, because I am worried what may be causing it and how to treat it!

Yeah I am always thinking I could have this or that wrong with me but I never go to the doctor because I don't want them thinking I am a hypochondriac!! There is always that little thought in the back of my mind, if I did bring up all these things, could I actually be right with someone and they might fix me...?

Yeah. I think we're all a little bit like that. I think it comes from living in a very medicinized culture.
I got acid indigestion during Christmas - from eating like a pig, like most years. But then I thought about appendicitis - what if it's appendicitis? That can kill you! - so I went to check the symptoms of that.

I'm kind of a hypochondriac in that I always think something is worse than it is and yes, its defintily on the quiet because half the time I know how ridiculous I'm being!!!

no...i am in fact quite vocal about my hypochodriism (sp?). in fact, i just called the doctor because i have been getting "new" headaches, and i am SURE it's a brain tumor. not only do i consider calling at the slightest thing...but i'm also convinced my life is over.
