I just upgraded my harddrive and I tried to install windows xp but I am getting error messg. that says" Cannot upgrade your currentinstallation to Windows XP, your current installation of Windows is not a supported path" After I installed hard drive I then put in the supplied cd, I then put in a version of Windows Pro 2000 because my Xp is only an upgrade. What should I do?

i think u hav to format the HD first

Well, you really answered the question yourself. Now that you have installed Windows 2000, try installing the upgrade on top of that. The upgrade disc will not work if there is no previous version of Windows.

Through the option 'Upgrade' You can only restore missing system files.You can't upgrade a one version of windows to a another. It may be can do in simple softwares like Virus gaurds. But not with operating systems. If you want WinXP in your hard drive you have to format your PC and re- install WinXP with a bootable CD.
