When not involved in a serious relationship, do you seek out friends/ex lovers to quench your needs? Or is it something that you can deal without?

Very much so. Being physical with each other can do everything for a relationship. exercise, reduce stress levels..
If you don't get it from your partner you will have to get it from elsewhere.

so what are you doing later? ;)

I can't really say. I've been married for a long time. I know that my wife and I are separating and going to divorce. Many issues that we just couldn't work out. We haven't had relations in awhile. That bothers me. I miss feeling like I am with someone that loves me. Random sex doesn't have the same intimacy that I find in making love. I do know that sex is one of lifes basic needs. I just don't know if self gratification counts. Better off getting involved in a relationship.

If you are not involved intimately it is called friendship and it should not matter to the other if you go have sex with someone else. If you are trying to form a relationship, cool your jets a while and let it bloom. Case scenario: You are married for let's say 20 yrs to the most wonderful man alive. Couldn't be better. NOW all of a sudden he can't perform for some reason. ie: accident, disease, etc. Would you divorce and go look for sex or cheat for it?? Something to think about.

I'd do without. There used to be a time when you could safely go with an ex or "friend with benefits," but there's just too much going on out there (diseases and such) that it's not even worth the risk.

Plus, you can get creative with masturbation. You'll always know where your hands have been!

I can go months without intimacy because I know my long time without it will make it even better when I get a woman and she will love my strong sex drive and extreme intimacy with her. Good things come to those who wait a little while

Well I have a f*ck buddy for whatever occasion, and hes my best friend/ex boyfriend and also an advice giver. But I dont always f*ck around with him. I casually date guys, if they arent 'the one' or dont mean much to you, why not do some stuff with them. Whatever or just masturbate, or find a random guy and make out or etc. Its up to you. You have 1) Your hand/vibrator 2) A f*ck buddy 3)A boyfriend or 4) Random crushes.

Well I havent been in a physical relationship in 2 years that is a record for me, but I have sought out for conversation and sometimes small dates from old boyfriends and friends. But that is not often.

Sex should not be a priority. If it is, then you got a problem. Gotta think of the consequence of having sex with multiple partners. If your involved in a non-serious relationship, you shouldn't do anything drastic just in case it does get serious. You wouldn't want to think about what you did when you were dating.
