I thought it was illegal already. And if so, they should be held accountable like everyone else. No one should be above the law or get special treatment. The law is there for a reason. We may not understand or agree with it at the time, but later down the road we may see the wisdom behind it. Such as the "illegal" situation we face now vs. landlords or employers. After living just yards from the Mexican border and and several other countries where the citizens are trying to get here, I am sorry for them and understand their desperate need for a better life. But that better life is here because of the laws we have. They must be obeyed in order to maintain the life that everyone seeks.

What if they turn out to be legal and are kicked out of their home or have to drain all their money in hotels while figuring this out?
I'd rather kids not be given school unless they can prove they are legally here, since that is really the problem these 'residence' limits are designed to address. I know that the court ruled against that in the 80's when times were flush, but I think it was a wrong ruling.
Our schools are being ruined. I don't think the housing bit will be upheld however.
Business licenses are different.
Also, code violations like too many people in a structure can and should be enforced, but not just against one group.

if the illegals are showing you fake documents and everything is checking out ok then there's not much a landlord can do in that situation.
most property owners like a landlord only want good quality citizens living in their properties and will run appropriate background checks. in my area of the usa -- se mo we don't have a huge immigrant population -- but most landlords here won't rent to anyone who they can't verify thru a credit check etc. its not really discriminatory and besides there are ways around being charge with that.
i think some landlords don't realize that 10 people are in one dwelling. there are city codes and zoning preventing that. keep in mind that with sq. ft. and # of exits -- they may be within the city code. but, maybe not -- if you notice something like that going on -- make a complaint to your city dept. who handles that. if its a good city government they'll look into it.

No, because which could recommend they'd initiate evicting human beings basically because they are immigration status is in limbo. the U. S. is a rustic of immigratns. All politicians comprehend the choose for finished immigration reform yet meaning giving those human beings rights, not deporting them. Undocumented workers contain 20% of our artwork pressure, and are paying billions in payroll taxes each and each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. This idea that we ought to continually 'deport em all' is brutally inhumane, and would weigh down our economic equipment. that is a pretend enemy, the right wing would like you to hate, in order to save you on their area, similar because the abortion situation, the gay rights situation, the gun administration situation, and different fringe topics that on your gut sound good, yet once you study the data make no experience in any respect. like numerous good con guy they hook you with bait, and draw you into their scam. The Republican loose market philosophy is a scam, extremely they basically favor to thieve your money. They do this with the help of replacing regulations in want of the grasping businesses that fund their campaigns and their communicate radio courses. businesses like Exxon, Enron, Phillip Morris, massive health, and so on. you're helping the very human beings that are ruining your existence and also you do not understand it.

I agree with it! I mean, you should know who you are renting to in the first place, and if that person is breaking the law, then you'd want to know about it so you can't be held responsible!
If illegal immigrants don't have anywhere they can legally stay, then maybe they'll start immigrating the correct way.
I'm all for immigration, but I'm against breaking the law!

Landlords can rent to whomever they wish! I mean where will it end! If there are 10 people living in one apartment there are already laws in place to prevent that from happening because that's probably more than one family and is in violation of code, so obviously those restrictions aren't working. Where are you getting your information when you say there's usually about 10 people living in a small apt.? I hate it when someone makes a blanket statement about a subject based on what, an observation? Who's going to enforce and monitor that kind of bylaw? People don't leave their country of origin because they want to, they leave because of crippling poverty, corruption of their gov'ts on all levels and violations of all kinds. They risk their lives to lives to live free of tyranny and to have enough food in their belly. There is no simple answer to the problem of illegal immigrants.....perhaps the States needs to erect proper border controls between Mexico and themselves since that's where the trouble begins! Trying to fine landlords will only cause more strife in an already overloaded and bottlenecked legal system and will simply send people elsewhere. Unless you are a native, you came from immigrants, legal or otherwise
Fixing things where they originate instead of trying to mop up afterward makes more sense!
No I am neither a landlord nor an illegal immigrant, just a free white Canadian of Irish, Scottish, Dutch and Romanian descent
who is glad her relatives weren't turned away from this country years ago.
Big surprise...not....... I'm sure not to get one positive vote. Nothing is black and white.

I agree with the other posters here. Yes...landlords and employers should all be fined. Illegals are breaking the law by being here! We round up drug dealers, rapists, murdferers, and etc....so why not illegal aliens? What bothers me is....illegals working in places like refineries and chemical plants. Not only can they not speak English...they can't read it either. That is the most important thing to consider when thinking of 'safety' at those work places.

I support it ...very true ...4 to 5 families living in one dwelling??? Dont understand it myself why people are defending illegal aliens ...yes America is a free country but we have laws we have to go by like every other country ...besides I dont see any other country excepting immigrants like America ...then they call us racist..lol funny..why should they be allowed to get away with what we are fined and threated prison time for? that is very much a fire code violation...wheres the fire marshals???

I am all for it too. They did a whole credit check and everything on me when I used to rent an apartment, so they should do the same on everyone. And they should not have more people than legally allowed to live in any unit. I am all for landlords being fined. And for employers who give jobs to illegal immigrants too.

I'm all for it. But they should only be fined for the 1st offense. If they are caught again, then they should no longer be landlords, they should be fired as landlords.
What part of illegal don't illegal immigrants understand????????
