you can bought some baby saline solution and give him that 3 times a day in the nose and then they also have some baby vicks out there that you can rub on his chest to help him out. The other thing you can do is take him into a steaming room like your bathroom and sit there with him and that should help him breath. you can also run a humidifier all day long too.

I would take him to the doctor. This time of year is tricky for illnesses. Also, there is a differece in nasal congestion and chest congestion. We cannot always tell the difference. Most of the OTC medicine and home remedies are for nasal congestion, if he has congestion in his lungs and you wait to long it could turn into pneumonia. Be safe. Get him checked out.

On a personal note, I kept giving my son decongestants when he was between 1 and 2 without having him seen by the Dr. for something I thought wasn't worth the visit. 1 week after his 2nd birthday I took him to an allergist and found out he has asthma and has ALL along.

If your child is having a difficult time breathing due to congestion, try Tylenol Simply Stuffy (infants/children). Also try using the bulb syringe to clear his nose. You need to definitely use a humidifier and keep him propped up when sleeping do not lay him flat. Make an appointment with your pediatrician to make sure his breathing problem is only from congestion.

My daughter is only 13 months old, but her doctor told us we can use children's benadryl at night and Pedia Care during the day to help with drying it up. We were also told to have her sleep at an incline. We bought one of those wedges to go under her mattress in her crib to make one end slightly higher than the other. We also use a humidifier at night that seems to work really well.

Don't forget to use the "nose sucker" to get what you can.

Good luck!

I'd get him down to the Doctor but Tixylix have some great mixtures for all kinds of cough and seem to work quite well. Hope he's feeling better soon.

He'll need to see the doctor if he's having trouble breathing.

Turn the shower on just hot water, and shut yourselves in the bathroom and let him breathe in the mist. It will cause him to cough up the newly loosened mucus.

And then get him in to the doctor.

you could use a "snot-locker" to quote my mom. I have attached a web site selling one below. It's available in the baby aisle of most pharmacies and stores. Good luck!
