I just got over a cold, or whatever it was, and two weeks later, I'm sick again! Does this type of stuff happen? I was taking medication from the first time, and I didn't stop I just didn't take as much. Could that be it?

That used to happen to me all the time, even though I was reasonably healthy and exercised regularly. Then one winter I decided to cut back on sweets entirely, and I didn't get a cold that year. So, if you have a sweet tooth, keep in mind that the constant sugar high and sugar crash you get from eating them is very hard on your immune system.

You only need to take the full course of medication if it is an antibiotic treating a bacterial infection (like pennicillin for bronchitis). If it's just a cold, the medication you were taking was only working on the symptoms and in no way could actually cure your cold.

It sounds like you had a cold the first time, your immune system was weak and then you got another cold. Or it could have been the same cold returning. Whatever the case, keep drinking lots of fluids and eating lots of fruits and vegetables and you should be fine.

If you have a weakened immune system, you can be susceptible to colds, etc. You need to give yourself time to heal and build yourself up with vitamins, good HEALTHY food, and lots of rest.

You don't say what type of meds you were on.

If you were just taking medication to mask the symptoms (like painkillers or decongestion meds), then you can also have rebound symptoms when you decrease your dosage.

If you had antibiotics and didn't take them as prescribed, you could also have developed an antibiotic-resistant infection. If that is the case, you would need to have the doctor prescribe something from a different family of antibiotics and take them all as prescribed.

Ankhesena is getting it right... also relevent is the question of the other friend if you are outing in polluted crowded areas where the infections spread easily and affect the weak ones...

You should step up your defense system by taking good lot of protective foods like raw vegetables and fruits... do half an hour exercise or walk briskly in the open terrace or garden in the mornings which would increase your appetite - particularly if you are a sedentary worker eating very less - and help you get strong..
don't worry... but don't neglect or be lazy (weak people tend to be too lazy or vice versa!)... good luck.

My dear, there is no medicine on cold. It is due to excessive cough in our body or blood stream. When it raises above its' saturation value our body throws it away. It is a defence mechanism. Therefore we should help our body to purify itself.
The first step is to have a diet to prevent making cough. Rosted horse gram is the best food medicine.
Avoid all fats and cold things. They increase cough. Avoid sweets and bakery foods too. Warm foods give rescue.

You got sick again because your immune system is low. Eat properly, get plenty of rest, sunshine and vitamin C. The body gets sick when it can't fight off disease.
