Let's say a powerful alien civilization faked the second coming of Jesus, revelations, etc. through the use of extremely advanced technology so that the Earth Christians would believe it. Maybe they did this for their amusement or to further a cause of theirs. How would you know if it was the real Jesus or not?

What if the alien technology was so advanced that it could alter your brain functions so that you "knew in your heart" it was the real Jesus?

Mainworry: The aliens have read the bible. They know that Satan is supposed to come first. So they fake that then they fake the actual coming too. They do everything according to the way you think it should happen.

Dude, what an awesome question. If Christians found out after the fact that it was another false prophet, then it would disprove their faith altogether. Christians are so into what they read in the Bible that it wouldn't be that hard to stage. You could dress up in a robe and sandals, maybe grow a beard and long hair to look like a hippie or something... We could destroy Christianity and have a few laughs while doing so. Keep us posted on more thought experiments, because that's a much better way to say "question".

Of course we know that God would not let that happen.....and aliens don't exist.....but if they did.....

Aliens could never do all that God has promised. Could they resurrect the dead. Do away with sickness and death. Heal the blind, deaf and lame? Do away with the wicked, so that there is peace on earth? Peace between man and the animals? Peace between the animals? Aliens do not have the book of remembrance with all the names of those dead that are to be resurrected. How would an alien be able to read someones heart and know if they are good or bad?

Only God can bring about these conditions.

THAT is going to happen.

Except not aliens but Satan will fake the second advent.

You know if it is real by God's Word, it is written.

The sequence of events.

Mar 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

They would just 'know' it in their hearts because they have a 'personal relationship' with jesus or some such claptrap. The replies should be amusing if not enlightening.

Jesus' sheep will know their shepherd. It's preternatural, unable to be explained by any tangible thing. We'd just know.

It is also certain that these theoretical aliens of yours would do something counter to scripture in the process, giving us something tangible to support our 'gut feeling'

[In the Last Days] "Even the very elect will be deceived." We are told also to watch and pray that we be not deceived, so that is our defence from evil aliens taking over Christianity.

This is for those of weak faith. Hypothetical situations mean nothing in the face of undeniable truth.
