America hasn't quite finished losing in Iraq, actually.
But, "going all the way" with Ethiopia in Somalia means assisting the Ethiopians when they have to send thousands of troops to actually hold the territory they just took.
The Ethiopians will be in hostile territory - a country which has been at war with them off and on since 1978.
And the Ethiopian government has it's own problems at home - half their country is Muslim, including a huge ethnic Somali minority in the Ogaden, right on the Somalian border, but the country is ruled by the minority Christian Amharas, who are also resented by the Oromo, the largest Christian nationality in Ethiopia.
"Winning" this war might be the worst thing that ever happend to the current Ethiopian regime.
As far as 'dealing' with North Korea and Iran - the North Koreans have nuclear weapons, and they would not hesitate to use them on South Korea if America invades them, or as North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il so bluntly put it "we will turn Seoul into a lake of fire".
So, obviously, the South Koreans would NOT go along with a US invasion of the North, since 20 million of their people live the Seoul metropolitan area.
America could no doubt make mincemeat of the large but backwards Korean Peoples Army - but then we'd have to occupy North Korea.
And, without the brutal Peoples Milita police force and National Security Agency secret police to keep the starving North Korean workers and farmers in line, there would be chaos, looting and God knows what other kind of civil disturbances in an American occupied North Korea.
As for Iran - similar problems. America could no doubt defeat the Iranian Army on the ground - but we'd have to occupy Iran, and there are several hundred thousand armed Pasdaran (revolutionary guardsmen) in the country - in other words, a ready made insurgency in a country with twice the population of Iraq.
As far as attacking those who "coddle" Osama bin Ladin, again, there are similar problems (do you REALLY want to invade and occupy Pakistan, a nation of 100 million Orthodox Muslims?)
Same deal with invading Syria - the Syrian Arab Army would quickly crumble in the face of an American onslaught, but it would be hell occupying Syria.
And, without the brutal Syrian Police and Mukhbarat (secret police) to keep the majority Sunni Muslims in line, there would be an Iraqi-style civil war between Sunnis and Alawite Muslims and Druzes, not to mention an insurgency against the American occupation.
These are all great scenarios, right?

We've been dealing with North Korea for 56 years, what's different? The world is using diplomatic relations with Iran, so we'll see where that takes us. The UN should deal with Ethiopia/Somalia. I have no idea about India/Pakistani. Diplomatic talks are the way to go until there is nothing more to say. I don't have a crystal ball.

I think the India-Pakistan thing is a really interesting one.
American interests are with Pakistan for terrorism fighting and stuff like that, but also with India which is going to be an economic superpower in 30 years with the ability to destroy America with ease. The British have a lot of influence over those nations and would probably deal with the ex-colonials like naughty children - slap their wrists, and take their weapons. Gotta love the British, those guys don't mess around.
America won't bother with the Ethiopian situation, too little money/oil involved.
America is too gutless to deal with Iran/N. Korea, God forbid they should try to fight a war with a nation with some sort of military credibility.

The U.S. eventually will be at war with itself. Just look how very divided the Americans are right now on the Iraq War issue. If the same division continues for so long on more critical issues that come up in future times, and if those issues will greatly affect the life of an ordinary American, then civil war will be a probable outcome.

I wish it would go into Somalia and destroy those pukes and try to get that country stable, but that's a long shot. America has gotten to deep into the crisis in the Middle East so it will probably have someting to do with Iran more than likely.

The next legitimate war we will be involved in is Mexico. For the life of me, I can't understand why more attention is not being paid to this situation. It seriously needs to be addressed!! And that war will be for our freedom...no doubt about it!
