That depends. Light blue or light pinkish peach? Blue means it's a boy, and the pink or peach is a girl. When they are born or very young the nostrils will have almost no color or are very light to the point where you can't tell. As they get older, the color becomes darker and obvious. All the "light nose" means is that it's a youngin.

Train him or her now to sit on your finger so it gets used to you while you can. The younger they are, the easier it will be to train them anything. I know you've heard the old saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" and the same goes for birds. Keets can be taught some amazing things IF you work with them, and it can be great fun!!!

I hope this helps you! Have fun with your little guy or girl!!!

The bump above the nose where the nostrils are is called a "cere".

If the cere is more of a violet-blue, you're safe it's a male. If it's more tannish-white, you can take a pretty good guess that it's female.

But if I remember correctly, the tan-white can fool you sometimes, because some of the more submissive males (remember, parakeets are social birds that live in huge colonies!) can have their ceres turn to a more feminine color to keep from being bullied. I can't remember if this last bit is true or not, but I hope the rest helped!

I think it's a girl. I have never had parakeets before, but I think the girls have pink noses.

If it has a wheat colored nose then it is a female. If it has a colored nose then it is a male.
