I have some nuggets lying around, in a different box than the original carton. I would like to know if I can use them? It has been 1 year since I got the pack.

No, they are probably not safe to eat, if they weren't frozen or otherwise chilled during storage, for the entire time they were stored. And if the package is not the original sealed package AND they weren't frozen or chilled, they are definitely not safe.

Soy cubes and nuggets are made with perishable ingredients, such as soy mik or water that has had soy sitting in it for long periods, thus making a soupy liquid, then that is drained and the solids are pressed together to form them.

So, all soy and tofu products have to be treated as a perishable product.

See the soyfoods.org or vegan resource group website at vrg.org or websites like these for more info.

Eat soy and tofu products sitting in liquid (considered fresh) within a few days of purchase and definitely before any stamped date on the product. If you plan to freeze these items, drain all liquid from the package, rinse and securely repackage and either refrigerate them (for up to 3 days) or freeze them (for up to 3 months).
