I moved to New York state recently and I am still using my previous driver's license from another state. My car is registrated to NY state. Should I change to a NY driver's license? Does it help on insurance or not? Thanks!

Yes, you need to get a NY license. I believe it's within 90 days of becoming a NY resident; some states are as little as 30 days. No, it won't affect your rates.

when u move from 1 state to another, ur obligated to get the current state license....so yea, u need to get a ny license. insurance is based on driving record, type of car, and location for theft risk.

i'm currently doing the same thing. i was told by my insurance company that i'm supposed to have a ny driver's license and that i have 30 days to have it changed. its been almost a year now. oops. but as far as affects on insurance premiums, it doesn't make a difference. you will be charged depending on where the car is and your record.

I had to do this when I moved to New York State too.. It cost a fortune and my insurance had to be changed as well as registration and license. Good Luck to you.

Most state laws require you to obtain a license in their state. If you get stopped by a cop you could get a ticket. The insurance premiunm is based on your address.

if you're stuck through a police guy doing 50mph in 30 zone, they might provide you to courtroom docket and performance your licence bumped off (or more desirable aspects). in case you went previous a speed digital digital camera at 100mph in a 30 zone it truly is really 3 aspects, regardless. i imagine of they might opt to have the similar guidelines if you're stuck through a digital digital camera, as once you've been stopped through the police. yet, correct that's my party of speed digital digital camera insanity - and why they (or some drivers atleast) are really volatile. i grew to develop into into using into London on Saturday very last week, with my 2yr previous boy interior the motorcar. i grew to develop into into in lane a million (of three) doing 70 on a twin carriage way (i.e. now not even speeding), there grew to develop into correct right into a 4x4 in lane 2 doing sixty 5, so really than be naughty and undertake, i began out to bypass from lane a million to lane 3 to overtake. really as I actually were given interior the decrease back of this 4x4, we got here upon a speed digital digital camera or perchance regardless of the straightforward undeniable truth that nobody grew to develop into into speeding she slammed on the breaks, I narrowly missed her through INCHES. What we opt for is preparation to make more desirable shelter drivers, re-checks and checkups, now not speed cameras.

kinda. your zip code matters. If you are in the heart of a big city you will pay more than somebody out in the boonies.
