What do you think I should do...I was thinking either a winter wonderland theme or a movie marathon? What do you think would be better/fun for the girls. Any suggestions on games/food?
Thanks :)

If you live in the snow - and are talking about a sledding or ice skating or snowman kind of party - that would be awesome! We have nothing like that here. A movie marathon is a little tricky. I don't know how many girls are coming - but it's hard to find movies that none of them have seen - which will also hold their attention for two hours - AND the biggest thing is that they are appropriate for that age.

If you have girls coming from different places (school, scouts, church) who don't know each other - a good ice breaker game is to divide a paper up into about 10 squares and put questions in each square - things like "Do you have two brothers?" or "Did you get a bike for Christmas?" or "Do you take Dance lessons?" (if you know fun facts about the girls - it's good to put them in - just one for each) and have some questions that everybody would answer yes to - like - "Do you like ice cream?" The girls have to find somebody who answers yes to each question - and then put that person's name on the square. They can only have a girl's name on the paper once. This game will get them all talking to each other and learning each others names.

I don't know how big your house is - but another fun game is Sardines. Sardines is kind of like a backwards version of hide and go seek. One person hides. Everyone else scatters and searches for them. (Tell the girls to try not to follow each other around) When you find the hiding person - instead of running to base - you get into the hiding place with them. More and more people have to get into the hiding place - and eventually - the girls are all squooshed in a closet or the shower stall or whatever - just like SARDINES. The kids really love this game. It's also a lot of fun to play in the dark with flashlights.

Mad Libs are great. I write one for my kid's party every year. I love to write them and the girls love to do them. If you would like me to write one for you - I will. Really! Just e-mail me back. I customize them a bit - and they always come out a lot funnier than the ones in the store bought books.

Food! Pizza is easy and most of them will eat it. You can get it delivered - and have no fuss. Or - frozen ones are okay and cheap too. It's a little pricey - but I've gotten the Boboli pizza crusts and all of the makings and let the girls fix their own pizzas. It's an activity for them - plus they are making their own dinner. Works for me. You can do this with tacos/burritos too. Just put the fixins on the table and each girl does her own.

Most girls eat those little baby carrotts. Just so I wasn't giving them junky food only - a put a bunch of carrots on the table - with ranch dressing - prior to the pizza. They ate them up - and I felt somewhat better about offering at least something nutricious.

For snacks - microwave popcorn is inexpensive and goes a long way.

Oh! Give each girl a big plastic cup at the beginning of the night and have her put her name on it. They can decorate them too. That way you have a little activity - AND you are not doling out and washing cups all night.

Also - it's very messy - but you can get cookie dough and let them roll and cut out cookies - bake them - decorate them and then eat them. I make up a few different colors of the "sugar frosting" with powdered sugar, a little bit of milk - and food coloring. If you do the winterwonderland theme - you can get cookie cutters in the shape of snowmen and snowflakes.

Good luck! Hope your daughter has a great party!

The easiest way to find out is just to ask, because 11 year olds can be very picky. For my 11th birthday party, we went mini golfing. But, depending on the weather that might not work. I love the movie marathon idea. For food, just junk food. Cheetos, Doritos, Fritos. The entire -Itos family. And fruit punch/ sprite/ pepsi. But always give water as an option for the children that don't like this type of stuff.

11 year old rather small for movie marathon. how about jus a movie or 2 in the afternoon then the games or water play. games can be like rag-a-bone or sorts that could perhaps build bond? while ure preparing the cake and dishes, you can let the girls contd to play but get someone to host and organise them.

food wise, mix chips in a bowl, chocolates in a bowl (round ones like M&Ms), have cocktail desert, cake, pie, tarts. mini snacks will be swt. the cake will come ard evening when u see the girls almost done with playing.

will be great to have another movie after cake session and oh, u shld let the birthday girl's fren slp over. it will be total fun!

Winter wonderland sounds different and fun! At that age try karaoke, Makeovers, manicures. Have them to make some easy appretizers together. We had a tea party for my niece. We paired the girls off (or 3 to a group) and gave them each a job (make sandwiches, cookies, etc...) then enjoyed the tea together and tried different vartieties. Was fun and eductional. We even all made tea hats and dressed up. It was silly but all of the girls had a blast.

I had a really good 11th birthday party...10 years ago. I went to CVS and I bought the mud masks that the girls put on their face, and we bought the bubbler to put under the bathtub and it was like a jacuzzi and we had the nail painting station and then we rented movies and it was a sleepover. we gave all the girls a disposable camera to take pictures of the night, and do some glamor shots i don't think the girls need anything else, im sure they will all be talking

I think that she doesn't need games planned. Have them ready, just in case though. You should do a mystery dinner!!!!! Print out a menu and tell the kids that they will have six courses. Three items a course. Have the items labled: Scared cat (Chicken), prong (fork), birds nest (noodles) , and so on! When they order the item, you cannot get another! So if you ordered a prong in the 1st course then you will not get it for the next 5!

If you have a lot of friends then of course you know what to do. Call them, tell them excitedly that today is your birthday let's go out and hit the greatest restaurant in town. If you have time and your birthday is still in a few more days then I would suggest that you plan to travel to some place nice with your Friends.

have an indoor swim party, or a sleepover, both, iceskating, sleepover in a hotel, corn maze, light show, or a skating party! tell her I said happy birthday!

I think i would be more fun to do a winter wnderland, but I am not sure what that is but it sounds more fun that sitting watching movies. you should ask the girl which one she likes best!
