global warming is happening...it has been proven scientifically. People that say it is not only believe that because the major impacts will probably not occur in our lifetime, but probably in our grandkids or great grandkids time, which is not too far off.

Things we can do to minimize global warming (since we can't eliminate it completely) is to educate ourselves on the problem as much as we can. From this education, we can perform the tasks to minimize it's effects.

We can change all of our lightbulbs to energy efficient ones. The fluorescent ones that cost a bit more but save you more money in the long term. These bulbs emit 10x less energy Hydrocarbons than regular incandescent ones. We can also purchase more fuel efficent cars like hybrids or smaller gas efficient cars. We can also turn down our thermostats in the winter to save money and our environment. These are just a few things we can do to help stop global warming. The worst thing to do is to ignore it.

Global warming is not scientifically possible to make a conclusion either for or against. Mathematically speaking that is. The "global warming” could be merely an event in time. Consider this, the earth is billions of years old. We only have a few hundred years of recorded weather documentation. Statistically speaking it is bad science to deduce that the globe is warming and will continue to warm until doomsday. Here is a simple formula, lets say that science is right and the earth is about 4.6 billion years old. We have roughly 200 -300 years of recorded weather data. lets just use a nice easy 200 years for this example. 200/4,600,000,000 =0.00000000435 or .000000435% of the earths weather data. Would you feel safe betting a large some of money on global warming actually existing? Make no mistake the globes temperature is on the rise but to suggest its a doomsday event is absurd.

Don't be scared. But do learn the facts. It is science and you need to study science to understand it. People who say we are running out of oxygen or that we will all die do not understand science; they are just panicking because some political activists (like Al Gore) are trying very hard to MAKE them panic. They are doing that as a way to make the people do what they want them to do because they think that it will take all the people in the world agreeing to do the same thing to make the needed changes. And they are right. I am not convinced that people like Al Gore know better than I do what changes are REALLY needed. But they DO know better that I do how to control other people. And that is dangerous, because they can control people to do good or to do bad, and I do not trust anybody to always do only good so I do not want them to be able to control ME.

Here's an easy one that everyone can do.

Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent. If everyone did this it would significantly reduce the problem.

Solving it totally will be very hard. But not as hard as dealing with the results (disruptions to agriculture, coastal flooding) of global warming.

As individuals, we have the responsibility to bequeath a safe environment to our posterity. So we have to switch to non-polluting sources of energy generation. We have to use power generated from non-conventional energy sources like Hydro-electric, Wind mills and Nuclear energy(to some extent). We have to stop generating energy from coal that is the major contributor to global warming. We have to make better vehicles that minimise the emission of harmful effluents. We have already reached a point of no-return. All we can do is to prevent any further damage.

We can all make a difference! It is a misconception that for one to really make a difference, one must be like part of a lobby group, activist etc. On the climatecrisis.net website(as shown in the ending of the movie-An Inconvenient Truth), there are various methods where individuals can play a part!(under TAKE ACTION) Go visit it! i guess the most important thing is awareness which is truly lacking. If you can see the problem, make your friends see it! Spread the word around! =)

the ice age (roughly 16,000 years ago) ended because of global warming,

inefficient light bulbs didn't cause it, nor did gas guzzling cars, coal burning power plants, or methane from cow flatulence

nor did any of those things cause the other 12 ice ages to end

until mankind can affect solar activity and the earths distance from the sun say put on some sun lotion and enjoy the beach

did you hear about the polar bears? people want to put them on the enangered species list because of global warming.

what to do: 1.) go to www.epa.gov/climatechange/index.html. 2.) tell people! 3.) the 3 R's --- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! 4.) Don't listen to the stupid turtles of people who just hide in their shell and don't look at the world around them! In Chicago, they have had only one major snowstorm, and it is usually 20 some degrees. The average there is like in the high 40's!

people need to do some thing! thanks for asking!

Global Warming is a hoax, anyone that thinks it's true is stupid. Just live your life and have fun while you can...if the worlds going to end it's going to be abrupt, not because of global warming...in the '70s they were worried about global cooling.
