First of all, I believe you mean that you are suffering with Chronic depression. This does cause other problems like not being able to sleep, eating more or no appetite at all. A feeling of hopelessness or not wanting to be around people. You may not even want to get out of bed. The sadness is always hanging around. You are now cutting, which is self-mutilation. It is said that this is done to relieve some of the pressures or the pain associated with the depression. You mentioned that your parents are alcoholics, right? They abuse you. Even if they donot strike you ,verbal abuse or not providing for your emotional and/or physical needs is abuse.Regardless of what someone may have told you, you DO have the right to feel sad and depressed. How old are you? If you don't want to continue and probably your situation could worsen. I also suffer with depression. I've had people that thought that I could just "snap" out of it and were not supportive at all. Yes, you do have the right to be sad and depressed. It's what you choose to do about it that will matter to your well-being. You may call a crisis hotline. A local mental health clinic would be available to help. They will hold your information in strict confidence. If you feel suicidal or really bad go to your nearest hospital emergency room. The cutting is not normal. Besides the cuts could become infected, leave scars, or if you cut deep, you might die from blood loss. The most important thing is to get help. You have to be willing to accept the available support. Talking with a therapist is a beginning. I'm sorry for being so long-winded but I am truly concerned and will say a special prayer for you.

Have you seen a doctor? Are you taking meds? The internet is not the best place to find people who have your best interest at heart. Do you have any close to you whom you can talk to? The cutting issue is likely an expression of the pain and turmoil you are experiencing on the inside. There are groups that deal specifically with these things and a reputable counselor is a good place to start. I hope you find the help you need. If you are Christian I know of a group that can be a big help to you, let me know. They dont refuse non christians, its just that you wouldnt be willing to follow their way of dealing with this. I hope things work out for you.

Well i am by no means an expert but am a depressed person. I recently moved to a different state/warmer climate and that helped alot. I was sad with no good reason and completely miserable and on a sleeping pill and two antidepressants. I am now off the sleeping pill and nearly off the antidepressants..is worth a shot i would say. Good luck to you.

If you cut yourself, you need to talk to someone. If youre serious about feeling better, go to a parent or someone you trust and tell them you want help. They can help you seek out a professional. Ive dealt with depression myself, and I know from experience that talking to a professional can make a huge difference.

There is CLINICAL depression and CHRONIC depression, MAJOR depression, Bipolar. But CHRONICLE depression I have not heard of. It sounds like it would related to depression based on chronicles which are actually newspaper based articles.

Cutting oneself is a form of self mutalation resulting from wanting to inflict punishment on oneself for doing wrong. Stop hurting yourself. Confess your sins and move on get healed. May God be with you.
