How can you catch a diarrhoea and sickness bug?

You can contaminate a bug from off other people, in a house, outside on public transport, etc. I have recently got over the same bug, Sickness and Diarrhea. My doctor told me to starve myself for 24 hrs but to make sure I was drinking lots of fluids.

Through the oro- fecal route. i.e. via something you eat or drink which is contaminated or via your own hands, if you do not wash them before eating.
