why is the man always buried on the left of his wife?

It was started in mass graves, (families)when not only man and woman but the children were buried in the order of their heighth.

Wow...I've never heard that. I'll be interested in seeing the responses.

My first impression was that it was to mimic the wedding, but now that I recall the man is on the right.
