Vitamin D is the only one vitamin which is absorbed from the skin from the sun. 3x15min a week will give you enough vitamin D to keep you healthy but if your skin is dark then you ll need more time (45 min extra) out under the sun to collect the same amount as the white skin people. read more on www.patrickholford.com

Sunshine does increase your vitamin D in your body, people should take the supplement and not tan. Ever see someone die from melenoma skin cancer? I have-and it broke my heart. Tanning just isn't worth the risk,be happy with the color you were given. I am so white that I almost glow in the dark, but I will not risk my life to be a little brown.

Exposure to UV rays (sunlight) increases the body's Vitamin D which helps in the absorbtion of calcium. However, over exposure is very bad for your skin. Do not use vitamin D as an excuse to get more rays. Not good for you!

Sunlight...not tanning. Just a few minutes of sunlight a day is all it takes. Or you could drink vitamin D fortified milk.

Yes, it is true. Your body creates vitamin D when the skin is exposed to sunlight or UV. This government web site will fill in the details.
