its gross but really common its called coprophagia.i think the best thing to do is keep a really close eye and clean it up before he has a chance to eat it ,also it wont be long before your pup will get a routine they poo roughly within an hour of eating so it might be an idea to keep an eye on it at that time.

Make him a spot to use as a dog loo and take him there on the hour every hour. Praise him when he goes there, he'll soon learn thats the spot to use. Just clear it up as soon as he does it. Its better than putting stuff on it and leaving it lying around.
And never punish him for going in the wrong place such as on your carpet; he shouldn't be left there. Consider it your own fault. You wouldn't let a baby crawl around without a nappy then rub its nose in it would you?

my puppy did this last week. the vet told me that its cause they like to keep the place they sleep in clean so they eat it to remove the evidence. I have been told that if you rub their noses in it it can really upset them and stop them from going to the loo full stop. Try and take them outside every 45 mins - knackering but worth it! good luck

you clean the poo before he gets a chance to, it could be that whatever you are feeding him is not digested properly and it still smells nice to him. if you clean it everytime he poos and keep on cleaning it then you will break the habbit

My pup has'nt done this so far (touches wood). But I was told that if he did to sprinkle a little (only a few drops) of tobassco sauce on and it would deter him from doing so. Changing his diet may help, but if you take him to a place in the garden you want him to poop in everytime you take him out he should get the message. He will quickly go to that spot and hopefully not eat his poop any longer. good luck!

One key thing is, don't holler or yell or get mad when he poos in the house. Dogs know when you are mad and will eat their own poop so they don't get in trouble. I adopted a stray and he use to do the same thing. A vet told me this info!!

I had a puppy like this once and I tried everything, cleaning it up straight away works but you have to be quick which cant really be done all the time if your in another room. I ended up getting rid in the end it was making me ill. So people say its a vitamin deficiency?

Clean it up after he has gone! Maybe that will help, and maybe just give him a treat/snack after, for saying maybe good dog and you have real food.
