Jack is a chocolate lab/ terrier mix. He is 13 years old and looks in good shape.(People think he is a puppy) Yesterday, we went to the beach and let him run around a lot. Later that night he started slipping and wobbling in my mom's room. He then threw up in the corner. I put him outside just incase he were to puke again. He went outside and just laid down in the cold. I called him and he wouldn't come. I had to go outside and drag him in. When he was inside he drank water while laying down. After he was done, I carried him downstairs into my room. He laid on the bed all night. I woke up @ 4am and he was upstairs. I brought he back down and he is still laying on my bed right now. Also I gave himwater downstairs and he drank a lot of it then spit a little up. Please HELP!

He also has mild arthritis. But would that make him puke? The vet is keeping him for a couple of hours because he is dehydrated. They did x-rays and are going to do a blood test. They say he could have eaten something at the beach or has something that was underlined and finally came out or appeared (like a tumor). Oh...I hope Jack is okay!!!!!!!!I've had him since I was a baby.

It turns out now they are keeping him overnight. She definately thinks he ate something toxic at the beach.. He is on an IV. She told us at 7:30 that when we brought him in he was going into shock. She is going to give him food tomorrow and do blood tests. Also she says his kidney is a little elevated and that all he needs is a special diet and medicine for that if it stays that way, We will pick him up tomorrow at 4pm if everything is okay.

The doctor just called my mom and said that Jack is doing great! He is eating and looking perky! He looks like he wants to run around! She thinks all the fluids she gave him flushed out whatever was in his system. He is getting bloodwork down again at 11am to see if his Kidney isn't still elevated. The Dr. said we can pick him up at 12:00 this evening! I'm so glad Jack is okay!

Take him to the vet NOW!! don't wait for answers here. It could be very serious.
It sound like he has ingested something toxic, ie. people food, chemicals etc. (Holiday food has lots of onions witch is toxic to dogs) Either way you need a vet quick!!!

Thanks for the update we are rootin' for Jack!

Your dog should be taken to the vet. Your dog is a senior and senior dogs tend to get a lot of (mysterious) illnesses, but they're not that mysterious but because of the aging dog. Either case please take your dog to the vet (talk to your mom about taking your dog to the vet) and do it.

I know that one day my boyfriend and I came home to find that his boxer (13 years old) could not stand on his hind legs @ all and we immedinately rushed him to the vet. Luckily we recieve proper treatment right away so now he's back to walking on his hind legs and there was no premanant damange.
