Buy recycled products whenever you can. Recycle your newspapers, glass, cardboard, cans, etc.

Plan out your driving errands carefully, so you combine as many as you can, and don't drive around in circles wasting gas.

Consider taking your own re-usable canvas sacks to the grocery store, or at least re-use the paper sacks several times. Save the plastic bags---they have many uses; return the extra unused ones to stores where they collect them for recycling.

Buy larger quantities of packaged goods if you can store them; the more you buy in one large package, the less packaging will be used overall.

Keep you car's engine tuned up and your oil changed regularly to minimize emissions into the atmosphere.

Don't waste water; keep your showers short. Never run the dishwasher or clothes washer with a partial load. Open the dishwasher at the end of the wash cycle and let the dishes air dry (don't run the dry cycle).

pick up as you walk along. There are many times when walking down a sidewalk or in a nature trial to I find McDonalds coffee cups or candy bar wrappers or bits of trash. Instead of passing by people should be picking it up and disposing it properly. It would be even better if people could pick up after themselves but if we all work together even the little things can make this world seem like a beautiful place.

If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR, we would save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars.
