The Bible, Proverbs 3:5-6, and
John 3:19-21
19"This is the judgment, that (AE)the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for (AF)their deeds were evil.
20"(AG)For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
21"But he who (AH)practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."

So many books, so many best lines,
You probably meant the bible, which even for this atheist hardly narrows the field much.
A lot of Ecclesiastes, almost certainly. Ch 1:2 "Meaningless! Meaningless! says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless." (NIV)
Then there's the comment by Graf Ulrich von Bek, in Michael Moorcock's "The War Hound and The World's Pain":
"If one wishes to find consolation in this world, one must be prepared to accept at least one or two large lies."
