I tend to be too aware of when I'm looking at someone when talking to them, and after about 2 to 3 seconds I'll flick my eyes away then come back.
But I was reading a self-help communication book and it says that I should keep direct eye contact even when the woman has stopped talking...is that correct?

as long as you aren't creepy about it...don't stare...just make eye contact....

Well, keep eye contact but don't be freaky with it. Staring at someone is rude and can discourage the conversation rather than keep it close. So, I would suggest that you look away occasionally during your conversation, perhaps when you are speaking...look down, pondering the right answer, then look back at her...

I do this too. i think uncomfortable as quickly as I word somebody is observing me. i do no longer choose for somebody to think of i'm observing them. they are in all possibility somewhat shy too. maximum women like it whilst adult men make eye touch, fantastically if the guy is amazing! yet do no longer assume everybody to hold your gaze. no longer everybody can do this - does no longer mean they are no longer attracted to you. i could attempt and start up some communication in case you have an pastime in somebody.

finding natural breaks are common, but to show true interest then yes eye contact is crucial. It shows that your are interested and value the opinion.

Yes, I'm a female and it will work hopefully!
If you look away from her, then they will think you don't find her attractive or even like her. Or that you're very shy and timid

Totally. This lets the other person know that you are paying attention and interested in what they have to say. You want the other person to know that you are attentive and focused on them.

you should keep eye contact dont stare them down tho... but me i get nervous and dont like to look at ppl. i look away and that not always good

Staring at someone can be brazen and rude. I'd watch out for that. Smiling is more important.
